Anyone care to take a swing at what used to be on the site of K-Mart, circa early 60s?
It's been a long time, but as I recall there was a miniture golf course in that area. |

I remember going to see the Ringling Bros. circus in a tent at 6 Corners when I was really young.
Was Twin Fair originally where the K-Mart is? |

Was that a distributor of Beer up on that corner?
My brother found this article: Twin Fair When it was open in the '60s and '70s, the Porter Road department store was everyone's favorite place to shop. Not only did the store offer a wide selection of items at a quality thought superior to its main competitor, K-Mart, but Twin Fair was also the first department store to contain a connected grocery store. In one stop, a family could shop for back-to-school clothes and fill the pantry with a week's worth of food. The answer you are looking for is a driving range. I don't remember if there was a mini-golf there or not, but I wouldn't doubt it. But sailorbill is also correct. The driving range was down from the corner. Right on the corner was a private residence made of fieldstone with a barn behind it. |

I think Twin Fair was always in the same spot. The corner property was a field before with the house and the driving range before K-Mart came along. I remember the circus but I thought it was on the same side of Packard Road as St. Leo church. |

Here's how I remember that corner. On the west side of Hyde Park & Royal you had Niagara TV then believe it or not there was Falls St. (short & a broken continuation from Falls St. - see google maps) then Trippi's (old Lablaw's) and next to that was the miniature golf corse (with rocket?). Across the street was Marty's Mobile (my friend Joey M. his dad owned it), next to Marty's was Royal and then there was Golba's Tavern, behind Golba's was Club Royal and behind that was Walt's Tavern (later was called the Grapevine) I could go on and on - I grew up right down the street. For some reason I just don't remember, what was where the firehouse is now, was it a vacant lot? Does anyone remember The A&P and Sample shop on Niagara St. (up by the Casiono) they were across from the old Johnny Ryan Building, I remember there was a train bridge that went perpendicular over Niagara St., there was a dip in the road on Niagara St. that went down to get under the train bridge.
