Nobody wants to spell Grobengieser. Smiler

Grobe's was owned by 2 brothers, Eddie and ???. It was the only grocery store I knew of that you could charge your groceries at.Every customer had their own record book that was checked every time you wanted to charge anything. You never got a bill, just a friendly reminder that you needed to put some money in the pot to keep buying groceries.

Kind of exaggerating aren't you, besides I'll take 3 or 4 months of snow instead of hurricanes, tornadoes and hot humid temps!

Well it's 72 here now, been 2 weeks since I've had a cloudy day, haven't seen a hurricane, tornado in the 3 yrs. i've been here, and it's alot less humid then NF ever, normaly around 35% humidity in the summer. 90 deg. is nowhere near as bad 75 there, came back this past summer from mid 90 deg. temps here, and was sweating there at 78 !! Oh yeah we start planting our vegetables in Feb. and open the pool in April till Oct. by then the water gets too cold mid 70's only !!

Hi There, I don't want to ruffle any feathers but I have to agree with wajoe. The weather is gorgeous here, I live in Duncan, SC. its right between Greenville and Spartanburg. I've been here for almost 5 years now and the coldest its ever been is 27 degrees and I think that has only happened 2 or 3 times. There is a lot of sunshine (avg is 263 days per year) and pretty much low humidity in the summer, it perfect right now. Another outstanding feature is the taxes, I built my house three years ago, it 3300 sq. feet and my tax bill for 2007 was $1517.00, my house taxes in NY in 1995 was $4500.00. Thats a lot of extra cash in my pocket, also there are a lot of jobs because of BMW (the auto maker). One more thing, I got gas last night, I paid $1.85 a gallon. Do I need to go on. Don't get me wrong. I love Niagara falls, the people and food; But I have to look out for my family and myself, no matter what ever it takes. I get home at least twice a year to see my family and I see a big difference in a negative way in just a few months. I'm glad I still have the memories of the old days because thats all thats left for me. Sorry, NFHS 75

came back from the falls on the 8th. miss it sooooo much. had a great time and ate some good food. got scared when i went to ventris for wings. a mob of teens hanging out. almost didnt get out of the car but really wanted the wings. just cant believe the kids hanging out on the street corners all the way back up town. people are still great. never a dull moment. got to see family and old friends. just a shame to see how its going down. to me, they should not have closed trott. got alot of kids on the right track after hs. what hs did you go to??

Good to hear from people in North and South Carolina. My boyfriends mom and brother moved to North Carolina.Seriously giving us thoughts to moving down there.Economy sucks here.He used to make 3 times as much money down there(Christiansburg,W.Virginia).He really wanted to come back here to reunite with family and really missed western N.Y.But hearing all of you saying these things, might be worth giving it a try.
