Yup, it's still there and as far as I know it's still being run by Larry Lindsay. His Mom owned it "back in the day" and I guess he's stayed with it.

Yeah he is in with the White Parrott lounge but word has it just closed because his partner was not doing his share of the work but expected the half of cash flow so Joe backed out. I think he needs to just relax and enjoy life and forget the bar's. He works to much. |

Anybody remember a Niagara Falls band called Ta Ta Swan from the late 70's? I believe the drummer's name was Gavin and he went on to play with some big name band. How about the Ontario House? Lots of great blues bands. And the Imperial Garage, the last great nightclub in the Falls in my opinion.

The drummer you're talking about is Jack Gavin. He played (maybe still plays) with Charlie Daniels Band.
bonus for those of you who went to Gaskill around that time....Jack's dad was a teacher there. |

Jack Gavin was the drummer for Charlie Daniels Band. We all used to go to the OH and drink 20 cent drafts when were kids. The Imperial garage was a great blues bar, I saw some all time great blues musicians there, it was owned by Toby Rotella. If you are into the blues and want to listen to a local guy try Richard Ray Farrell www.richardrayfarrell.com , he left NF in 1980 and played all over Europe and is now living and recording in Philly. |

No, it's an inside joke to jar ChuckT's memory.
That was the Gavin's address when we were kids. I grew up down the street from there. |

Mountain Man, it wasn't me, I left there in the fall of '57 to work at the Olin plant on Balmer Road and left the area in '61. Didn't Bill Sims get in some kind of trouble?
Hi - I've been enjoying this thread about Niagara trivia. So many fun memories! One thing that struck me about this post - my dad worked at Olin on Balmer until 1961. I don't know how big the plant was - he was an electrician at the time, I believe. His name was Bill Brooks. |
