I'm new to this and was wondering if any of you know my family, the Riggi's. We lived on Woodlawn Ave for many years. I moved away years ago but always return to see family and the old town.

Cheers

The theater on Main Street in the North End was the Rapids.

Darby's Dan Drive-In was down by Howard Johnson's Restaurant and Motor Lodge by where the helicopter rides were. By Bridge Texaco Service, Moses State Parkway Exit and Entrance, beginning of Ferry Ave.

This was back in 1971 - 1972 time. Someone named Rose (don't remember her last name) was the manager.

Matt... I know you read this forum. Give me a call and help me out.

I remember your family! I grew up on Woodlawn and 20th. You had a sister Patty? She was a few years older than me (I graduated NFHS in '80).

Shadow,

I believe the other theater downtown on Main street was called the “Rapids Theater” and I believe it was located where Slipko’s Grocery or Jenns Department Store (Not sure of Spelling) was later located. I believe that Darby’s was a drive in type joint, which was where Carol’s hamburger ended up being. My uncle use to own the Varden Studio (the ones that took the Year Book Pictures) his name was Louis Angelo and he had the studio right behind that drive in, I think they first tore it down to put up a Henry’s Hamburger stand prior to Carols. It certainly was many years back to remember all this stuff.

The theatre was known as Shea's Bellevue Theatre in the 40's and 50's. It became the Rapids Theatre in the early 60's. It was across the street from Jenss Dept. Store.

The drive-in was on Main Street by the Ferry Ave and 2nd Street intersection.

Matt, give me a call and help me out here.

And no one at NFHS wanted to eat there, because rumor had it that Bay Lauster used to clean off the grill by peeing on it.

There were 2 Henry's Hamburgers. One near and on the same side of Military Road as LaSalle High School and the other at the corner of Pine and 24th Street.

Wasn't Varden Studio on 10th Street by Lockport Street? I seem to remember it next to a large parking lot.

Anyhow, Darby's Dan was along was from that area. On Main Street near the Ferry Ave intersection.

I've heard of a George Burgess that lived in the Town of Niagara somewhere around Panama, Lincoln or St. Paul Streets, but I didn't know what he did for a living.
