Tres, I agree with Mageepet. I love gardening and I can tell Mageepet does too so I figured this would make a good thread that will give helpful info to a lot of different people that have the passion or want info for gardening. Or just show their pics off of their pretty flowers and yards.

I just finished planting some Phlox and Peonys. I seem to have a real problem getting Peonys to grow so if they don't make it this year, then I'm giving up on them!

Now if you want to know anything about Hibiscus, I'm the person you need to ask. I love Hibiscus and have a yard full of the plants.
This is one of my hardy ones that come back every year and has dinner plate size blooms.

We have peony plants that were planted in our yard years ago, they come back year after year. You certainly can plant them in the spring, however the proper time to plant them is in the early fall. A great place to order them from is Gilbert Wild, they send them out for planting in September and October. We have divided our peonies and replanted successfully, however that was in late September. I think that is the problem you are having with them (planting them in the spring), dont give up, they are beautiful, and will come back year after year, but they only bloom one time a year, not all summer (the green plant is nice too though) Good luck and do not give up on them!

try mixing moon flowers in with your morning glories. one blooms in the morning the other in the evening. so cool

Thanks Blondie! If these don't come up I will try planting them in the fall. They are so beautiful and I would love to get some growing.
We bought quite a few flowers today and we're getting the flower beds ready to plant. Today is so nice.

I was out checking my beds today, I have a lot of work today providing I should ever have a day off again.
I have moonflowers, too. They like my morning glories come up from seed each year.

I bought 3 catnip plants and my 2 cats have been fighting over them. I finally got them planted and I think the cats will be happy with the location. If they make it that's great if they don't it's no big loss, because it made my kitties happy Wink

When Tres and I used to be neigbors I had a row of flowers along a fence. There were 32 diffents kinds that came back up every year. I truely loved the shasta daisies and wild violets with white flowers.

I bet that was pretty!

I got a lot done today, but I still have more flowers to plant tomorrow. Now if it just continues to stay warm I'll be a happy banana. Smiler

Today, while I was sitting in the car waiting on the boy to come out, I saw a cardinal come and sit on my porch. He first sat on a bike that was on our porch and then he moved down and sat on a porch pot that had some gourds sitting in it. I would so have loved to have my camera available to take his picture. Cardinals are hardly ever seen down on the ground like that here. YOu usually just hear there call and a flash of red is seen high in a tree.
I once took some pics of a noisy bully jay trying to run my back yard. He was scolding me for taking his picture, too. I have no pics of a cardinal though.
Seen2, the happiest bananas I know are in banana bread!!! The give so much joy there!

Oooooh banana bread...yummy!

We've had Blue Jays, Cardinals, Baltimore Orioles, Juncos, Wrens, Sparrows, Finches and several other common type of birds grace our backyard. We once had a Peregrine Falcon show up and grabbed a sparrow for lunch. This happened 2 days in a row several years ago and he's not been back since.

I'm planting some plants that I hope will help attract Hummingbirds. We have had a couple at our feeder, but they are not constant.

We don't get many hummingbirds but do get a ton of hummingbird moths. You have to look carefully at those little things flitting around to make sure they arent' really hummingbirds.

I've seen those moths Mageepet and they do resemble Hummingbirds quite a bit.
I got all my plants in the ground that I had to plant yesterday, but my back went out on me while putting in the last 3. I'm sure glad Hubby was home and on the patio. I couldn't get up. I think I need to go see my chiropractor.
