Our city is big on planting flowers everywhere. The city just pulled up all the flowers and have put in the pansies. I just wish I knew how to get my hands on the stuff they pull up. It is always in its prime when they do it and I would love to try and save some or let some go to seed.
The very same thing happened at the courthouse park at the first of this week. They have finally planted some stella d'oro lilies they let come back year after year, but they tear out all the annuals every time the season changes and just throw them away. Now if you are caught picking any of those flowers in the park, you will get in big trouble as they are for the public to enjoy. Seems kind of odd when they wind up just throwing them in the trash anyway.

No, I'm too lazy. The one in the pic was planted this year, but there are other Dahlias that are planted around that one. They came back for the 3rd time this year. The 3rd year Dahlias are ones that I got off the clearance rack at Lowe's for .25 each. I just mulch them well and give them water in the Winter when there hasn't been any moisture for a while.

Sad Soul I wish I could help. Mine does the same thing and still survives. Right now it has beautiful blooms, but it looks like the leaves/stems are drying up. I have tried different watering techniques, locations, and amounts of sun and it still does this. If it's any consolation, mine is on it's 2nd year. I thought it was dying and the next thing I knew it was blooming! Maybe it's a characteristic of the plant. The only advice I can offer is give it bright indirect light, water it when it gets completely dry and fertilize with an all purpose fertilizer about every couple of months, but not while in bloom.
You can Google Christmas Cactus care and should be able to find some other ideas or maybe someone reading the forum might have some suggestions for both of us.
Good luck!
