JB, I love those flowers, but I had one successful Summer about 2 years ago and have duplicated everything I did previously, but they kept dying. I might try a hanging planter this year and see if I can make them last thru the Winter.

My bleeding heart is growing so well this year. I hope it gets to bloom good this year. Last year the April snow got it so no flowers at all on it. The year before was its first blooming year so it didn't really get a good start. Have high hopes for this year though.

Mageepet, I have 4 Bleeding Hearts in my front flower bed. They started coming out way before the cold was past. I was sure hoping I wouldn't lose any and I guess they were protected enough that it didn't happen.

A few years ago when Hubby went to CA on business, he brought me back a Bromlaide which lived about 3 yrs and died and he also brought me a Bleeding Heart vine. I had never seen one. They can't take the cold so it's strictly indoors until all cold, wind & storms are past and then I put it on the front porch in it's shady corner where it thrives all Summer. It has pretty white heart shaped blooms with an inner bright red bloom that hangs down out of the middle.
Here is a pic of one.

That is a really pretty flower, Seen2. When my mom died, the people I work with took up a collection and gave me the money to buy flowers for my garden (knowing how much I loved it) instead of of sending me cut flowers. As is my practice, it financed the usual amount of annuals for variety, and I bought the bleeding heart in my moms memory for a perennial to add to the garden. So, I am attached to it in ways beyond it being a plant. Should it bloom well this year, I hope to have pics of it.

Since for some reason, the slideshow wouldn't load I am giving direct link of just a few things around my house. I have a neighbor who has a park like area right in the middle of town, next to my house. Some of the pics are from there.

Well after an hour in the flower beds, things are looking much nicer. I am really pleased with what seems to be coming up now. I can hardly wait to have all the coneflowers bloom so I can see what colors they come up with this year, sometimes they seem to have ran awry of what was planted there but the surprise is at least always pleasant.

An hour? Uhhhh.....

I told the husband earlier they should make a comedy about us working in the backyard... but at least the hard stuff is done.

Your slideshow was beautiful.

My Irises are blooming for the first time in 2 yrs! They are pretty, but not as pretty as yours Chickenwoman.

I did buy some blue ones that I planted last year and they have come up and bloomed. They are really pretty, but don't look the same color that is on the pkg.

When my Althea bush blooms, I'll post some pics of my "odd" blooming bush. This bush has white blooms and did have until about 3 yrs ago. That's when I noticed that on the same branch, but different forks there were white blooms on one side and purple blooms on the other. I don't have anything purple growing around it for cross pollination and my neighbor who used to work at the USDA Station seen it and had watched it over the yrs and commented that it was a very odd occurrence. I think every year it has a few more purple blooms.

That is wierd Seen2, I have some miniature iris that I planted seveal years that just finally bloomed last year. Am holding my breath to see if they bloom this year.

Do any of you raise any lantana? I just love those old fashioned flowers. My grandma used to have those a lot. I am thinking of putting them in my porch pots this year. Am so looking forward to going out and looking at flowers.

Looking at several pictures of lantana on several pages it seems butterflies really like them.

I love Lantana, but I kept forgetting about it until mid Summer when I would see someone else's. This year I planted one in my sun garden. I really like the multi colored blooms. I think mine is going to be yellow, but it will look great among the Verbenas, cactus, Coriopsis & Laitris.
