Have you tried getting a list of people who have rentals from the Chamber of Commerce? They have almost all the landlords in Woodward on it.

Good luck finding a rent house. Woodward is ridiculous. Even though the housing market in WW is overpriced it is still cheaper than renting here. The only rent house I know of is a 3 bedroom with no garage or anything for 900/mo!! CRAZY! I have a 3 bedroom with double garage and a huge back yard. New carpet, new roof, new remodeled bathroom and my house payment is less than 800/mo. It's ridiculous in this town!

Just because somebody is employed by the oil field does not mean they can afford the $1000.00 a month rent. If they could... they wouldn't be renting.

You are right though - it is WAY too high. We've been looking for 2 years now...

Now that the economy is in a nosedive, who knows how things work right now... but have you talked with a realtor about the programs available for first homes? Some have 100% financing, I think...

Or at least they used to....

That kinda rent is just ridiculous... For that kinda price, everything better work like a charm... and include maid service. Sheesh.

lol outragous!! I Didn't mean if you work in the oil field you can afford that kind of rent, i meant the reason why the rent was up so high right now because the oil field was booming!! JMO

Okay gotta add some more info here!!!! First off just to fill everyone in, we are renting to own a house in Laverne!! The deal was we move in in june of 2007, clean and fix the place up (it needed soooo much work) and not have to make a payment till november of 2007!! And as long as we were putting money in the house to keep the reciets and that would go on the balance!! We have put 2000 or more into this house plus paid at least 1500 in cash directly to the owner!! Price has a habit of putting her nose into everyones business in Laverne, ecspecially mine, i guess my life is so exciting that she needs to keep her nose in mine to make her life exciting!! Keep it up Price i know some **** you wouldn'nt want me to expose about you!! Don't you think if the landlord had a problem with us that he wouldn't have let us stay here for almost two years~!!! Again thank you for trying ~~~~

I know because I have talked to the owner and he lets you live there where its not empty and the last people did the same thing and didn't pay and he let them also. He already has someone else waiting for the house when they move out. If you think I am talking smack call her landlord and ask him I am sure he will tell the truth. Also if you have lived there 2 years 3500 does not add up. Do the math all. I was not trying to get in her business just was giving all a heads up.

Price:

June 2007 to October 2008 is not 2 years.

Also, when it comes to home repair and remodeling, the cost of materials is usually far less than the cost of labor.

Do I think people should live in these places for free? NO. Do I think landlords should cut deals for extensive updating and repairs in lieu of rent? NO. And this is why. He said/she said. Bla, bla, bla.

I don't know who any of these people are, and I do NOT want to, thank you very much.

This is a general comment:

I think if landlords are going to rent properties, they should be in good repair -- especially the plumbing, freshly painted, and with decent flooring to start off with.... Nothing fancy; just the basics.
