I cannot for for Andy.

He wants to abolish the DCS. He believes the DCS is a huge, uneffective buracracy and he reaches this judgement based on an out-of-date reputation of the DCS as well as data research.

His views and mine differ. As a foster parent I have been persoanlly involved with the DCS and I have seen first hand the good that the department does for children all over this state. While I typically lean toward smaller government, the DCS is one area where I believe the government may not be doing enough. I say expand the DCS and help more kids. Andy would have you believe that volunteers would just come out of the woodwork if the DCS were abolished. I disagree. Sure there are lots of volunteers out there to help children. But no way are there enough. The children of our state need the DCS so they can find there way to homes that will love and care for them.

If they had to prove everything , it would be a different story.
There are good foster parents and bad ones.
But what do you say about all the children that have been sexually abused in foster homes?
Or worst ,even died.
Andy's plan is simple.
Make them prove it in a court of law.

Sorry, but I am not wrong about what I have seen and heard and experienced myself.

Yes, there are bad foster parents but there far more good ones.

What do you say about all of the children who have been neglected by unfit parents? There aren't enough volunteers to save all of them.

They are bad parents out there, but the are more parents accused falsify,
there is about 20 on the Honkforkids video site.
A Mennonite, A Native American, just to name a few.
What is wrong with DCS having to prove they are bad, in front of a jury?
And what about all dead children in foster care.
The system is unaccoutable, caseworkers are allowed to say what ever they want.

My eyes are open. You and Andy and I all see the world differently.

You have videos, stories of cases, and stats. I have real-world experiences. And I have shared stories with many other foster parents who have had real-world experiences of saving kids from horrible situations.

This sounds a lot like a gun control argument.

People against guns say that because a few bad apples went crazy and did bad things with guns, we should take all the guns away from all the responsible gun owners who do nothing but protect themselves and their families.

The same is true of the DCS. There have been bad foster parents. But those can be weeded out through proper oversight. You take away the DCS and the foster care system and what happens to the kids? They go to a group home? They go to a boys/girls school (which is basically prison)?

I've had this discussion with Andy directly through email. He claimed to me that there are "all kinds of volunteer groups" that would be able to help. How? How would a volunteer group help a child get into a loving home where they can have the life they were meant to have?

Andy is a good guy, but he has no chance in hell of getting elected. A vote for him is a throw away of your vote. If he gets 5% of the vote, it would be a libertarian record. All it will do is increase Jill's slim chances of being elected.

That said, until the Libertarians get a national platform that does not include eliminating most of the government and drug legalization, they will be a marginal fringe party of stoners and anarchists. There are pleny of government agencies that should be undone. But if you dismantle what the libertarians want, it would be like opening the cages at a zoo and telling the animals to fend for themselves. At this point we can't do that.
