Drug testing is now legal and many schools have incorporated a random testing program for athletes and extra curricular activity particpants. My questions revolve around drugs and school policies in schools.
1. What should be the first time penalty for an extra curricular participant caught using drugs either on school property, at a school related event, or after school hours out in the community? 2. Does your school have a code of conduct for athletes and their behavior and what does it say concerning one who uses illegal substances either at school/school related events, or in public? 3. Since drug use is on the rise, and there are many programs and a multitude of information about the dangers of using illegal substances, what do you feel should be done to those caught using illegal substances either on or off school property? If an athlete, extra curricular participant, or any school attendee, should they lose their extra curricular or school participation and if so, for how long? Remember that Hendrick's County has one of the highest drug referral rates in the state so it is a very serious problem. How do you as parents think it should be dealt with? 4. Has your school now or in the past showed favoritism or preferential treatment toward a student or students caught using illegal substances, either at school/school related activities, or caught in the community and arrested for possession of or use of an illegal substance? |
