I've been away for a while and havent kept up with the Windber news, but are all the residents there still racists? I remember when I was growing up there werent any black folk in Windber and the residents there were pretty proud of that fact. When JHS played them in football we got called some pretty vile names relating to our relationships with our black teammates.Just curious.

I can't help wondering if a lot of the so called racism incidents were not done by members of the black community just to keep the race issue brewing and to stir the pot .
I mean on the national level as well as on the local area after all our congressman called us a bunch of racist rednecks

Johnny, you are right. Where we lived 11 black girls beat a a retarded white girl to death. Yep there is racism from all races.

Not all. Old and outdated views are hard to overcome.

Over the Past 20 years I have seen Plenty of Blacks, call white people names, Attack them and harm them and the white people, nor the criminal Justice system Screamed Hate Crime.

I remember when I was in Highschool how racist Windber was as well... We went to a friends house in Windber w/ a black friend and she said.. you guys better go my brother is in the fire dept!

???? we thought ummm.. OK, so? She said, they are all in the KKK !!! =P Hahaha! We said tell him to come home and bring his friends. We went up to scalp ave and got about 5 car loads of people and headed back to Windber, we parked right in the grass in their front yard all high beams on pointed right at the house, all 5 cars... Blasting whatever rap song was popular at the time... We asked if her brother and his friends would come out and "talk about it" =) Not one of the "KKK firemen" would even look out the window =) haha... We destroyed their yard with our cars and chalked one up as a win for Johnstown High -vs- Windber Racists

I hope that its not as bad as it was but I do know that most people I encountered in Windber and some serious hate problems.
