With all the confusion of having halloween the 30 or 31, many children that go to jeff schools , where told to trick or treat on the 30th, but the children in the area, that are not annexed in jeffersonville, where not told that they are to trick or treat until the 31th I'm sure the children in jeffersonville, had a great halloween, but Oak Park child, i feel sorry for, with all the confusion, this was the weakess halloween, were i have like 300 childs at my door, it was like maybe 20. Some resident started seeing children out, and many parent said to me i thought it wasn't until tomorrow night. Normally, the Capital hills and Sielo Ridge have many children out, so i drove over, and i bet not half of the people that normally trick or treat where. i went last year, and the residnet and children were everywhere, families where out talking with each other, and i didn't see any of this year. Tom, 7 Coun , and Clark Comm, all you have messed up this Halloween for child, in the Oak Park Area, i sorry children of the Oak Park area, maybe we can make it up to you next year. To the school, of Great Clark, don't tell children anything, until, you contact the brainier of Jeff, and Clark co, first.

I would agree, unfortunatley the school announced today that trick or treating was tonight. So I had to take the kids out, our neighborhood was one of the few that had kids in it, the kids were from around Jeff, N.A, Clarksville, Louisville- all the towns that heard we were having Halloween tonight. The problem was many resisdents, without kids, didn't know it was tonight. So there were hundreds of kids going to about every 10th house and lining up--- I didn't think someone could screw up Halloween, but the Mayor proved me wrong. Hey Mayor, whe you run for re-election and I get your political flyer on my mail box make sure you list as one of your accomplishments that you made the city safe by screwing up Halloween for the kids.

I just talked to my dad, and he said they started out with about 400 pieces of candy and already had to make a run to the store for more. They live downtown, and all of their neighbors are out, saying what a great turn out it is. They're not sure if they'll have kids tomorrow or not with all of the kids tonight. I guess some neighborhoods are busier than others

Before tonight started I felt the same way about the whole Halloween situation as "Oak Park Resident" and "Slugger" do now. However, after taking my daughter out around our neighborhood I was truly shocked at how many kids were out. I feared that my daughter would be dissapointed and not be able to enjoy Halloween tonight but that wasn't the case. She had a great time and enjoyed seeing all the other kids. Although our experience was good, I'm sure that there were those who did not have such a pleasant one. The fact is that Tom Galligan dropped the ball on this situation. It would have been so much easier and enjoyable for EVERYONE to have left Halloween on HALLOWEEN.

Well I guess technically I'm considered Oak Park, ( as I seem to be included in that silly annexation fight, and I can't get garbage pick-up yet!!...Thanks a lot O.P.)...But, I digress.

My husband took my son out to our old neighborhood in downtown Jeff...They're just in now, and he said he had a great time, and there were lots of kids out, so maybe that's where all the O.P. kids went.

flower girl and call em as i see em, i glad everything went well for you all.
Jules 215 i glad your child had a great one also, but like You said, your husband took him downtown jeff, many children were told at school today to trick or treat, at school, but most of the parent in OP where told not until the 31, so many poeple wheren't doing anything tonight, some started due to they saw some childs out, and they felt bad for them. You might not have lived in OP that long, and if you don't agree with the people of OP, maybe you should move back to downtown jeff. All i'm sayin was, i will be taking my children to my mother inlaw tomorrow, which in in Clarksviille so my children can have the same experiance as your son. I have live in OP for many year, most OP resident on a average have live here is 15+ year, we are a family community, and i look forward to halloween every year, it's a time for the children to trick or treat, and adult to meet each other, and talk with each other. there was to much comfusion, and i think it hurt the turn out, is all im saying , and i'm sure the one that got a late start on trick or treat, because of the confusion, will go to other towns tommorrow, unstead of their owe. Like you said you had your husband take him down town, why not your own communtiy, you choosed to live in OP. I will respect you more and not call you person in the silly annexation fight, but i respect your beliefs

I'm guessing that there will be trick- or- treaters both nights!! I think the change by the city only gave kids the opportunity to go out both nights. I had kids tonight and I'm sure there will be more tomorrow.

grapevine, i agree with you , i to believe childs will get to trick and treat 2 night, but i also think, the turn out will be the same as tonight. i'm sure alot of people in my area will have a lot of candy left after tomorrow night, maybe we can take it down to the city hall in jeffersonville, for the councial meeting and clark co meeting, for though, that make this call

Well, T & T was fine, we had plenty of kids in Northaven, ran through $25.00 worth of candy, then, at 8:45 I closed the door with all the candy gone. Well, when I left my home at 9:15 I noticed my Halloween decorations were stolen!! I'd had them for years, they are 2 ghosts and 1 pumpkin solar lights, 1 ghost and 1 pumpkin on yard stakes, and 1 ghost sitting on the ground. If anyone happens to see them around, please tell me where you see them, I will check them out then call the police and take them back. As for me, I'm giving up on this stupid tradition that needs to be cancelled because it's dangerous having kids out on city streets in the waves of children, in the dark, drug dealers, etc, and then, after spending more money on this stupid tradition, my decorations get stolen. This is the last year I hand out candy. Bah humbug!! They're probably in Clarksville, thanks to our stupid major tg.

While I did disagree with TG on this Halloween change, apparently the memo did go out in downtown. The message was received and we in the Maple St. corridor got hit as hard or harder than normal. (Normal along Maple St. is pretty heavy)

Heavy enough that my 5 lbs. of candy are gone....my house will have to be dark Friday...
