I thought I remember reading something that Coldwater Creek had backed out in 2006 after announcing it was coming here. I did read recently however that Coldwater Creek will take a couple of years researching before they build. It's been longer than that, however, the current economy may be the reason. They've gone from opening 65 stores a year down to a number somewhere in the 40 store range. I wonder if they have truly bailed out of not. I read that Ann Taylor is closing 64 of 117 stores but still plans on opening 50-55 new stores. I noticed that the average Ann Taylor store is 5,200 square feet. Didn't the latest article on the town center say that one of the tenants close to announcing is using 5,000 sq feet? Someone claimed a year and a half ago that they had seen site plans that included the following companies for the center. I wonder if any of these still intend to open here. Ann Taylor Loft, Coldwater Creek, Mimi's Cafe, Johnny Rockets, Barnes and Noble, Chico's, Jos. A Bank, CJ Banks, Christopher and Banks, White House Black Market, Ulta, Zales, & Carrabba's. |

Barnes and Noble would have no problem what so ever surviving on Veterans. As a teacher I hate having to drive to Louisville to buy books. Think about all the teachers in New Albany, Clarksville, Greater Clark, plus smaller schools that have teachers buying books, then everyone else. If Barnes and NOble and Whole foods came I might not have to go to Louisville much! Wouldnt that be nice, to support my own community!

I remember hearing about Ann Taylor Loft, Coldwater Creek, Mimi's Cafe, and Johnny Rockets. I've never heard Barnes and Noble mentioned, explicitely, but they keep referring to "a bookstore". I've not heard of the rest mentioned as anything other than perhaps a dream list.

When I read the post elsewhere, the poster said that they had seen a "site plan". It may be an old site plan that fell through way back. It would be nice however if any of these strores were still interested, although, with the economy and so many retailers closing more stores than they are opening, I wonder if it's even possible to get any of them now.
I also wonder if since Chicos and White House Black Market are the same company if that might mean at least one of these two will still open here. Mimis was mentioned back in 2006. I recall reading one article where it was mentioned there were quite a few tenants on board, how many of those are still on board remain to be seen, but here's what was said back then.
It was said back then that ""We are in a pretty aggressive expansion mode right now, and we are looking at all of the major markets throughout the Midwest and down into the Southeast," Mayer said. "Louisville attracted us because of its demographics and the fact that casual dining does well there." They said back then, after signing a lease, that they had no plans to add more than the one store in Louisville and the one here. Mimis is owned by Bob Evans. This message has been edited. The "Town Center" has been landscaped. That sure helps. It looks much better than the former "weedscaping" they were doing. With a little sod, the place may end up looking half decent. It also appears some work may be taking place on Beef's... permits are in the windows and there is "stuff" inside.
Perhaps something WILL open up there by 2009! |

Here is a link to a site that was put up in 2005. It might be from a different company.http://www.jeffersonvilletowncenter.com/3D.htm
If it ever gets done like this site shows it would be beautiful. The home page makes it look like its already built. I live in Clarksville and pass by everyday to take my child to school. Clarksville is a township of Jeff. We are a part of Jeff, and hope the best for this project. What many people write makes it sound like a store war, who is going to get what first. We are all from Indiana and what benefits you and me, benefits us all. |

The food at the Highlander "Beef" is average at best. "Barf O'Bradys" is the term of endearment that I keep hearing.

My wife went twice just to give them the benefit of the doubt. Beer is the only item on the menu worth ordering.
