She started with spectacular flair
But the earmarks she snared were made bare Does she help McCain win With a giggle and grin Or is she John's bridge to nowhere? |

"John's bridge to nowhere?" Would that be the Alaska bride that Senator Obama and Senator Biden voted for in tne senate? Just wondering? magnaed |

Yes, everyone knows that Gov. Palin was fully in favor of the Bridge to Nowhere, until she got the money. Then she decided that it was too expensive. Rather than return the money, however, she used it for other projects. The only exception is the money given to build the road leading up to the bridge that won;t be built. That money had to be used to build that road or returned. Did she return the money? No, that road to where the bridge is not being built is still being built. The Road to No Bridge.
Everyone has also heard that, as Mayor of the City of Wasilla, she lobbied for and received earmarks in the amount of $27 Million. But how many of you realize that, ven with that huge gift for a town that small, she left after six years leaving a debt of $20 Million. What do you think she could do to the national debt? Erase President Bush's record? |

Think you're mistaken there, Ed. The whole point of earmarks is that the senators didn't get a chance to vote on it. They were both against it, but they don't vote for or against earmarks. That's one reason we have the $9 billion debt to China and India. |

Do you mean to stand (type) there and dare tell me I made a mistake!! ?? Me...be wrong about anything? Well I'm shocked and I am also kidding jitterbug but I hope you knew that buddy. Seriously jitterbug, I get amazed at times how mad some people can get if someone disageees with them on any number of issues! I read somewhere on these forums by someone who said something to the fact that regardless of whom gets elected American still manages to make a go of it and I totally agree with that theory. I will shut up now because it's time as you can see I can't rhyme! (ok that was bad I know) I didn't mean to hijack this thread...sorry, magnaed |

Knock Knock jitterbug, But in my defense The below is not the entire article but I will include a link to it so if you are interested you may read the whole thing but Obama and Biden did in fact vote for the Bridge to Nowhere. Donate Media Kit Appearances Contact Author Archive Send to a Friend Print Version September 11, 2008 10:14 AM Bridge Politics Sarah Palin stood against the Bridge to Nowhere. Why didn’t Obama and Biden? By Phil Kerpen Before Team Obama continues its attacks on Sarah Palin for at one point voicing some general support for the Bridge to Nowhere, the presidential hopeful has some explaining to do. Let the record show that Barack Obama himself voted for the bridge at least twice, as did his running mate Joe Biden. If Team Obama is to continue to point out that Palin was for the bridge before she was against it, they either must explain why Obama and Biden never denounced the project or, on the other hand, describe why they were in error for supporting it. At the moment the Obama campaign is playing a dangerous game of gotcha, since the record shows both Obama and Biden to be solidly behind the most visible symbol of wasteful spending in Washington. We at Americans for Prosperity — some of whom actually visited the proposed bridge site — celebrated. Taxpayers for Common Sense, the group that first discovered the earmark, declared “Ding dong, the bridge is dead,†and noted that “Governor Sarah Palin (R-AK), our new favorite Governor, pulled the plug on this project and committed to finding a more ‘fiscally responsible’ approach.†So the facts are plain. When it mattered, Gov. Palin stood up to Sen. Stevens and dealt the Bridge to Nowhere its death blow. This is something the U.S. Congress and senators Obama and Biden failed to do on multiple occasions. And while it’s true that John McCain, unlike his running mate, has always opposed pork-barrel earmarks, Sarah Palin, unlike Obama and Biden, did the right thing when it counted most and stopped an egregious example of earmark abuse. And now, of course, Palin has joined McCain in calling for an end to earmarks. Isn’t it better to come around to the right position than to keep on being wrong? — Phil Kerpen is policy director for Americans for Prosperity. * * * NOT A SUBSCRIBER TO NATIONAL REVIEW? I found this site today. It is Citizens Against Government Waste. It is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization that makes the tax paying citizens aware of wastful spending of our elected leaders. You should check it out. Makes for some very good reading if you are interested in how our government is wasting our hard earned tax dollars. Check out the Porker of the Month awards. Harry Reid (D) and Nancy Poleski (D)tied for porker the month of August.

Hold on--I'm putting on my lipstick.
Without it, I look like a pig. The McCain campaign needs this excitement, otherwise, it is utterly glib. No new ideas about your healthcare, Certainly no changes in the warfare. Let's not mention any of this to the masses. Maybe they won't notice we are pulling the same old retoric out of our a$$es. |
