Ed, when your source says everybody voted for the bridge to nowhere, I think that simply means they voted for the appropriations bill in which the bridge was buried. That's what earmarks are all about. Legislators bury their own hometown projects in the appropriations bill, and the minority party has no control over getting the pet projects removed from the appropriations bills. The more powerful legislators, like Ted Stevens, had control over the most money and funneled more money to their own states. That's why Alaska had the highest per capita return on federal tax dollars than any other state. Did McCain and Obama vote for the appropriations bill? Probably so. They'd be fools not to. To vote against it would have been to vote against funding for America's needed and worthy projects. It's a shell game Congress has been playing for way too long. It was universally criticized by the Dems from 2000 through 2006 when the practice ran rampant under Ted Stevens, Tom Delay, etc. funneling a disproportionate amount of money to Republican states. When the Dems took control of the House and your friends Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid took charge, they gave lip service to curtailing the earmark process, but things haven't changed much.

They bragged of her feats firma terra

Without smudging lipstick or mascara

Sarah says, "You can't blink."
But when it comes to war, shouldn't one at least think?
Her anti-intellectualism is just silly.
Palin- a V.P. who will make decisions willy nilly?
Her foreign policy theories seem pretty gnarly.
When they lead to war, will there be a "Sorry, Charlie"?

The McCain campaign needs this excitement,
otherwise, it is utterly glib.
No new ideas about your healthcare,
Certainly no changes in the warfare.
Let's not mention any of this to the masses.
Maybe they won't notice we are pulling the
same old retoric out of our a$$es.

This made me laugh out loud. Best one I've read so far and it's so true at the same time.

In an effort to keep things on track
John embarked a conservative tack,
Admiring trophies of game
He knew Sarah warn't tame
He was quite overwhelmed by her rack

Not meant to offend; posted for its word play only. Will delete if offensive.

There once was a man named Bob Dole
He's up there in age, the poor soul
ED ended sex
He lost his Flomax
Now the poor soul can't come and can't go

Our economy's in a deep slide
We're in for a horrible ride
If you wanna depression
Or deepening recession
Put McCain and Palin on your side

chicken little chicken little
says the sky is falling
Big bad Frag says quit your
whining and your bawling
smarten up, picking these libs pockets
is a breeze. They sell low, I buy mo'
They buy high, I make dough.
It's really very easily done
Dim rats are natural victims
they look to left, we smack em with a right
We make em losers in a race they thought they'd won.

Thanks, Happy. Sometimes they come together, sometimes they're flops. It's fun to keep trying. But what you say really isn't true. You still have the best line posted with the "earmarks are way too big" one. Keep 'em comin'. I'm trying to think of something that points out what a mess the economy is in. Something about lobbyists, and deregulation and free markets. Look where that's got us now. I'll have to think of something, but if you beat me to it, great!

I really enjoy the light-hearted seriousness that you guys put to rhyme. Keep it comin', keep it comin'.

These rhymes are for naught
For what have they wrought?
The rambling prose
Of political woes
Make me want back
the two minutes you've got

Bailouts are painful, whatcha gonna do?
Doesn't matter if your state is red or blue,
McCain says, "These should have been the rules"!
But his history with S and L,
makes me thinks he is full of bulls.

Thanks CW, I try to rhyme and stay true, not easy for a beginner in the poetic realm! Wink
