RE: http://www.news-tribune.net/opinion/local_story_308151248.html
I agree that some changes need to be made in voting, the intimidation, and what I call pestering of voters near the polls should be done away with but what really needs to change is registration issues. The first thing that needs to happen is that ALL voting rolls need to be purged, wiped completely away. Then people should have to register the correct way, prove you are a resident and register in person, not on door to door campaigns where doubt comes in about the accuracy of the voting rolls. I saw a man yesterday go into vote and he told the poll workers he needed to change his address, and when he gave them his driver's license, he told them that the address on his license wasn't correct either. He was allowed to vote, that should not be allowed, if voting is that important to you keep the information correct and if I am not mistaken it is actually a law that your driver's license must have your current address. The decision has been made and we all must live with it for the next two years, I say two because the make up of the house and senate can change again in two years. Let's just hope the right decision was made. |
