Erin

You are in charge of public relations, what about uniforms? I hope you do what Mr. McEwen said, inform the public and schedule meetings.
If not public relations bomb

Christina or Erin,

I Know the board approved technology for parents to electronically deposit money into our kids accounts for lunch and be able to monitor them as well. I see no links for this on any of the school websites for my two kids. Can you tell me if this has been set up and if so how to do it. If it has not been set up, when will it be? Thanks!

Fellow Educator:

Our Food Service Department and Business Department are in negotiations with a local bank regarding this issue. Once legal issues and contracts are resolved and the Board of School Trustees reviews and votes on this issue, then there will be a link added to the website.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me (812-283-0701).

Thanks!

Thanks Erin for the information! But I thought they already voted on the issue. I think this is a great concept and I really hope it goes through.

Use your video camera to catch those kids at jeff high and send it to Mr. Morris.

Why not just get the counselors out of their offices right before school and let them take care of the OFFENDers. He knows there's a problem.

Then tell us Shame (Bob), what is the point of the uniforms?? If the 5-10% of the students that need some sort of discipline with the current dress code won't follow the rules, why do we need to regulate the other 90% who do follow the current dress code policy?? Did you just talk yourself out of your original position, or are you just talking in circles?

I agree with you 100%! The main concensus between the parents at the football game last night was, and the first reaction to rv's proclamation of shuving uniforms down the school board's throat at every school board meeting, was, "what does rv get out of it? Does he have a friend in the uniform business? Does he get a cut off it? He doesn't even monitor his kids attire, therefore he wants to make everybody go out and buy uniforms.

Shame, That speaks so highly of our Board of Trustees, and that is a shame!

It just goes to show that the board has no plan for the future and is reactive to sqeaky wheels rather than proactive for what the majority agrees is best for GCCS...

As for your earlier comments on the election of board members, what do think of a primary in May to narrow the field, then a 'one on one' election in November. (The Pepster will have to spend a lot more money, but RV would have more time to get a few more niave kids involved.) That way voters know we'll get a majority winner. You know as well as I do, the vote was split in so many ways, that the only majority winner was Christianson. Consider all the votes against RV, the incumbent, as an example.

One other question..do you think Indiana should have a political recall. Might be another way the skeaky wheel could get greased... or maybe just 100 parents filling the board room voting someone out of the big brother house!

It's a Shame:

All scheduled meetings by the Board of Trustees are published in the paper and also posted on our website.

You can also sign up for notifications from the corporation by visiting our website. Agendas for scheduled meetings will be sent directly to you through email.

Thanks!

I was told the Board of Trustees would need to vote on the contract with the bank, not the concept itself. I will keep you up to date concerning the matter, but always feel free to contact me at the Admin. Building.

Thanks!

I just want to throw this question back out there since I have not had a response from Christina yet.

quote:
Christina,
I know there is a lot going on with Tony and his "campaigning" so my question is, are we as citizens getting the hours that we are paying him for?

quote:
Zoeller and Bennett spent Tuesday touring the state, making stops in Indianapolis, Terre Haute and Evansville discussing the platform.
(Mann, Evening News web site, Aug. 27, 2008)

With the recent financial difficulties of the corporation it seems like GCCS is getting the short end of the stick.

Does Tony have to use his annual leave days for these fuctions?

Who is taking care of the day to day needs during these campaign trips?

Christina, after reading the article on your "retreat" with the school board I have a few questions for you. First of all, Why did the board and Dr. Bennett have to go to hotel to have this meeting? The corporation says it has no money was talking about having to make cuts everywhere but somehow we can come up with money to rent out space at a hotel for this meeting. Couldnt this meeting have been at the administration building?
Second, on the subject of uniforms, why cant the current dress code be enforced at the schools? You and RV had concerns over "short shorts" and "sagging pants" both of these are covered under the current dress code. If this is not being enforced shouldnt our administrators be held accountable for not enforcing these rules that are already in place? If it is decided to go to uniforms, the kids that have "sagging pants" now, can buy their pants too big and still have "sagging pants".

Don't expect to hear Christina in this thread. She is a breath of fresh air on the board by not just going with the others or rubber stamping everything. However, she has not posted anything at all since August 30. My hope was that this would be a good line of communication with the board but it seems to be a dead thread.
