RE: http://www.news-tribune.net/opinion/local_story_349015623.html

In the spirit of this article, what are your favorite and least favorite songs and or Christmas movies?

My favorite song is probably O Holy Night. I love any of the songs that have to do with the meaning of Christmas. There's also one silly little Brittany Spears ditty called "Santa can you hear me" that I just adore. It's goofy but upbeat.
There's a country song called "Christmas Carol" about a little orphan girl who sits on Santa's lap. It's very depressing

My favorite movie is It's a Wonderful Life because, well, it's Jimmy Stewart!
My least favorite is Christmas Story. I hate that movie with a passion but every year my husband wants to watch the 24 hour marathon on TNT. The things we do for love!

That's funny. My fav movies are both "It's a Wonderful Life" and "Christmas Story", but I hold a soft spot for "Little Drummer Boy".

I don't care for any Christmas movie that tarnishes the image of Santa, or tries to "mirror" the Christmas Story (the real one).

My fav Christmas song is anything by Bing Crosby. I also like Andy Williams and Burl Ives.

My wife says I was born 20 years too late. Smiler

I know what you mean about tarnishing the image of Santa. I hate anything like Bad Santa or the like. Whatever happened to "feel good" holiday movies!

My dad has a cd of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis Jr singing Christmas songs. Talk about some talent! Dad better not forget to bring it on Christmas Eve at my house or I'll send him right back home to get it.

My two favorite songs are the Night Before Christmas and Rudolph as done by Fred Warring and the Pennslyvanians. Seldom heard nowadays and hard to find. My least favorite song is Feliz Navidad.

My favorite Christmas movies are "The Bishops Wife" with Carey Grant and Loretta Young and the 1951 Scrooge with Alastair Sims.

Oh no! Looks like my cat,Salem, is getting into the toilet paper again! LOL! Ismile, that is the cutest avatar you are using these days!

My favorite Christmas show was seeing Derby Dinner's version of White Christmas last year. I took my youngest daughter who was 13 then. We both loved it. And .... they also serve the best hot chocolate and the biggest ice cream sundaes we have ever seen. A real treat!

Chopper, I worked at Derby Dinner for 7 Christmas seasons. Did you ever see their version of It's a Wonderful Life? It was awesome. It was a good way to get into the holiday season working there, especially on weekends when we had 3 shows a day! Seeing he kids faces when Santa came around was something else

No I never did see their It's a Wonderful Life. But, back when Carly was in the first grade I got to go with the whole class to see .. ummm .... gezz that was so long ago I can't remember! Haha! Anyway it was like 7 years ago. You might have been working there then. They do a great job with the kids.

Back in my early 20's I was the Assistant Apparel Manager at Clarksville Kmart. (only for about 2 years then I moved to Florida, California, Florida again, Mississippi, California again ... navy wife life, ya know!) Retail Management jobs were never too hard to find. But now, I can honestly say I never want to be back in retail around Christmas EVER again. People are sometimes not so nice if ya know what I mean. I guess that would be my "worst" Christmas memory, working in retail at Christmas. How I ever survived 10 years in retail I will never figure out. Must have been because I was young. LOL!

And Flowergirl, did you know that you can now actually buy a "leg lamp" like the one in the Christmas Story? It's not to late to order from Amazon.com! HA! What a hoot that would be!

At my house - the Christmas movies are pretty kid oriented. We love the classics but we really enjoy The Christmas Story (you'll shoot your eye out kid), Christmas Vacation and Elf. We crack up at all of those, no matter how many times we've watched them. I have to say though, nothing beats turning out all of the lights and just looking at the tree.

I broke down and bought some of the ornaments from Hallmark. That's as close as we'll get Smiler I don't know why I hate that movie so much. It seems to be a favorite of most people but I just think it's super annoying.

For the last couple of years in San Diego I was Santa's helper when we did photos with Santa at the base exchange. Last year they bet me I wouldn't wear an elf costume, and guess what? I showed up in one! No one could believe it. I'm one of these people who believe in being a kid at heart. I'm 32 years old but this time of year I always go back to being a kid. I love it!!

I'd have to agree with Bestthing. Christmas Vacation is a beautiful tale Smiler I watch it in middle of summer. Clark W. Griswald is always good for a few laughs. "25,000 individual bulbs!!!"

"O Holy Night" is the best Christmas song ever! It gives me chills. I despise listening to "Grandma Got Runover By A Reindeer", the barking dogs doing "Jingle Bells," and all those other gimmicky modern songs. "Elf" is, hands-down, the funniest Christmas movie ever!

Thanks to Will Ferrell and the movie Elf, I'm eating much healthier. My diet now consists of the four food groups, candy, candy canes, candy corns, and syrup.
