I'm surprised that none of you have picked up on this yet, The other day all the employees of value city were called into a meeting and told that the store was going to be closing in a month or two. I got my information from one of the employees that works there. They are going to start the liquidation sale very soon!

Only in Johnstown.

I used to like shopping at that store. You could always go there and find almost anything for anyone. All while not feeling like cattle trapped in a stockade as you feel like in Wally world

Someone on this forum said they were closing at the end of '07...and never happened. Again an employee source. Just wondering if it is true this time.

It is true this time. Call up the store and they will tell you that they are having a "special sale". I am sure that is you go to the store the people who work there will tell you the truth. I believe 14 stores in the chain are closing including Jtown and Altoona.

I wandered in there a couple of weeks ago and I noticed that one whole section of the store was empty. Even the kids clothing area seemed to have much less in it than usual.

I know Altoona is closing because somebody has purchased the plaza and will tear it down for development. Its pretty bad when Johnstown cant get a simple target, kmart, or kohls for that matter.

From my source ..They are closing. When I don't know.

Johnstown was a store that was supposed to close down last year.

However, Burlington Coat Factory who bought out VC wanted to see if Johnstown would be a good area for a new Burling Coat Factory so they left the store open for one year to test how sales were with new prices and merchandice that are sold in other Burlington's ...sadly we bombed.

What was supposed to happen was VC was going to transition into a BCF.

This area did not generate enough sales and interest to stay open ...and we will not be seeing a Burlington Coat Factory.

If you read the VC stories from the Tribune that were published last year ...you'll see Johnstown was a "test" store. I guess we didn't pass the test.

I'll keep everyone posted if I hear anything more.

Moved away ...if your going to hide in my laundry room ....do a couple of loads of laundry Big Grin

not sure where everyone is getting their info on the value city stuff. I always say that you can't believe everything you hear. Anyone ever think that maybe there is just a sale. I think we should just wait and see what happens. If you are getting your info from an employee, is it a current employee or someone who has been let go and likes to start a bunch of crap???? Maybe you should reveal your source. Talk is cheap people!!!

My information comes from a lot of sources.. contractors, suppliers, managers, district managers, logistics, business people, planning, zoning, political and several others...not from low level employees current or former. However, sometimes those are your best sources.

It also doesn't take a whole lot to figure out ...when they're no longer bring merchandise into the store and getting rid of everything they have ...something’s up.

I never reveal a source ....once you do it's hard to get information from them again.
