When doing your Christmas/Yule/Winter Solstice cards this year, take one card and send it to this address:
A Recovering American Soldier c/o Walter Reed Army Medical Center 6900 Georgia Avenue,NW Washington , D.C. 20307-5001 If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get. When you are making out your Christmas/Yule/Winter Solstice card list this year, please Support our Support Our Troops, pass it on. Rosa sat, so Martin could walk. Martin walked, so Obama could run. Obama is running, so our children can fly. -Ed Welch, quoting a text message from a friend, on NPR's All Things Considered, 10/28/08 |

This is very thoughtful, Aiyanna Looney. I'd never heard of this, but I'm glad you posted it. I'm sure it would make any troop who received such a card smile. I post on the Ottumwa Courier forum sometimes: I wish you'd post the address their, too. Love, Soldier Boy |

Boy, do I hate to be the one to throw cold water on such a caring sentiment, but I've received an e-mail indicating that, for security reasons, Walter Reed can not deliver such mail. For more info, check http://www.snopes.com:80/politics/christmas/walterreed.asp
Again, sorry. Fortunately, there are so many other ways to care for others in this season. I know that John Adair from Osky is deployed to Iraq at the moment and I'm sure would love mail - any others? |
