I am just plain sick of the unsolicited e-mails telling unsubstantiated rumors about the candidates. The latest one I've recieved is that as a youth, McCain was a member of the KKK. Of course, no proof, no evidence, no impartiality, just claims. If someone has evidence, please fill us in. If not, stop all the smearing, please.

Mine, too. I'm just worried that some people may be swayed by these baseless rumors.

I am also appalled at the smear campaign on both sides of the aisle. Surely, no one on either side would claim that they are innocent of the occasional smear. To me, it seems that Obama has taken more smearing than McCain but they both have been served up plenty.

Still, back to the original question of the KKK, while I have no reason to believe that McCain was or has ever been a member, I don't know if we can "bin" this one so quickly. I did see on Late Edition with Wolf Blitzer (CNN) that te Democratic Party in some southern states (Georgia and North Carolina, if I remember correctly) were considering running ads on the topic. Ads don't mean that there is any proof to the rumors but would they run ads without any basis whatsoever?

If anyone knows any more about this, please inform us all.
