This was part of my daily Bible reading, and I
thought it was worth sharing especially during this election time. I wonder what it would be like if every candidate followed God's advice and slandered no one, and were peaceful and considerate to the other candidates. I wonder what it would be like if the rest of us followed suit? In another version verse 1 read, "Remind believers to submit to the government and its officers. Be obedient and always ready to do what is good."

Titus 3
Doing What is Good
1Remind the people to be subject to rulers and authorities, to be obedient, to be ready to do whatever is good, 2to slander no one, to be peaceable and considerate, and to show true humility toward all men. 3At one time we too were foolish, disobedient, deceived and enslaved by all kinds of passions and pleasures. We lived in malice and envy, being hated and hating one another. 4But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8This is a trustworthy saying. And I want you to stress these things, so that those who have trusted in God may be careful to devote themselves to doing what is good. These things are excellent and profitable for everyone.

9But avoid foolish controversies and genealogies and arguments and quarrels about the law, because these are unprofitable and useless. 10Warn a divisive person once, and then warn him a second time. After that, have nothing to do with him. 11You may be sure that such a man is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned.
Final Remarks
12As soon as I send Artemas or Tychicus to you, do your best to come to me at Nicopolis, because I have decided to winter there. 13Do everything you can to help Zenas the lawyer and Apollos on their way and see that they have everything they need. 14Our people must learn to devote themselves to doing what is good, in order that they may provide for daily necessities and not live unproductive lives.

I need to take that to heart more often. Thank you for the reminder and a very good post.

I have thought of this passage all day today, especially while driving to the polls and seeing all of the candidates' signs scattered throughout.

So, Parrothead, just a question -

If Obama wins this, and he starts WW3 by commanding our military to attack Israel on behalf of the Arabs there - the Old PLO/PA, and Hamas - and has to reinstate the draft to cover all his global ambitions - are you going to meekly follow, and send your son?

Well, no I won't send my son, as I only have 3 school/preschool age daughters. Big Grin If you are trying to get if I am an Obama supporter or not...No, I am not. I don't think this passage is saying that we should just do whatever the government says. I think that it says do what is right. If the government orders us to do something that is against God's teachings, i think He expects us to do what is right. Need proof? Look at all of the stories in the Bible that are about His followers being jailed, stoned, etc.. for doing what was right.

A slim majority of the people in this nation voted for Obama, and have also put the democrats in power of all branches of the government.

We have decayed so far from God that it's come to this. As far as I'm concerned, may God commence Judgement on this ungodly and wicked nation asap.

I am struggling right at the moment, for I have peace KNOWING that God has given us the leader the majority wanted. So, he's the leader we deserve. I believe it's meant to be at this time in history. For His purpose.

However, I truly do hate Obama. I cannot pray for him at this time, since I can only pray a prayer that no one would want prayed for them - concerning that man.

So at this time, I abstain.

May God's will be done unto him and all who voted for him. That is all that I will ask.

Obama is not a Christian, and he says his nation is no longer a Christian nation.

I say this nation is no longer under Christ's protection or grace. Only the true Believers trapped here will be under God's protection and grace.

You liberals have told us that our country was never a Christian nation. Your leader tells us that it's no longer a Christian nation. You have removed the Christian God from public - public schools, public displays, from court rooms, from your sight.

You cannot publicly disown Him and then claim you have Him after all. He is not mocked Donna Moncrief Lawrence.

And in the next four years, you will find out what it means when He disowns a nation that has turned its back on Him.

LoveMyCountry you are completely off the mark about what it means to be a Christian or to be a patriot who truly loves their country.

I can't believe you posted what you did and you call yourself a Christian. You need some serious intervention, dude. None of that was Christian.

George Bush will go down in history as one of America's worst presidents, but even I do not hate him. No Christian hates another person, that is explicitly forbidden by our religion. You need to talk to a minister and get some serious intervention, dude, I'm telling you.

The Bible says that God is not mocked. The Bible mentions often that if a nation turns away from Him, He will turn away from it.

As for what I think or feel about your president, that is my right, as a person, as a citizen, and as a Believer. God will indeed be the judge of all. You, me, and him.

It's out of my hands, and I do not intend to even speak of him again.

He is your president, not mine.

LB you are not Christian. Why are you trying to feed this baloney? In case some of you are not aware, LB trashes the Bible for her hobby. Unless you just got saved LB?
