Young turks Barack Obama & Sarah Palin agree that America should attack in Pakistan even w/out that country's permission if the CIA or other reputable sources provide "actionable intelligence" that Osama Bin Laden is w/in our sights.
Old warhorses Joe Biden & John McCain demur on the subject, apparently afraid of antagonizing sovereignty-minded Pakis. Who's right -- Obama & Palin or Biden & McCain? Where does the Pepsi Generation that grew up humming "Give Peace A Chance" get off rattling sabres to expand the war wider, beyond Afghanistan, into the Hindu Kush? The Kush, remember, shares a border w/ Red China. Given that both tickets are divided, which team would be likelier to bluster & blunder his/her way into Pakistan & commit an "error of intelligence" like that of Bush/McCain in Iraq? Perhaps America should take a 2nd look at these whippersnappers before beginning a new era of endless warmongering. Wouldn't it be nice to take care of our own country's needs, shut down the Illegal Employer, & shore up our own economy for a change? |

I couldn't help pointing out this quote from JB
"Perhaps America should take a 2nd look at these whippersnappers before beginning a new era of endless warmongering." Thought we were to embrace the inexperienced Obama as the second coming of JFK. I agree youth is often impetuous. That is why we need life experience in our pres. |

If we can find the exact place BL is in "Pack-Man-Stand" -- No one tell that we know -- send in a HUGE computor guided "Blast" -- and let anyone dare to say we did it.--

Problem is that the failed experiences of John McCain have made him, unlike the perky Palin, afraid of hunting down & killing Bin Laden as Obama has vowed to do. Most Americans, excited about both Barack & Sarah, seem to feel it's finally time to leave the obsessive Viet Nam-era Baby Boomers' skittish reversion to past defeats (not to mention voodoo economics) behind. |

I have not decided yet who I am voting for so this is no dig by any means but did anyone notice how Obama said "Pakistan" like it was a Pokemon character? What's up with that?

Good catch, Stace. But remember, the word "Italian" isn't an Italian word. Thus its pronunciation needn't follow the standard Latin-influenced alphabet.
Christopher Columbus' name was 'pronounced' Cristobal Colon when he set sail to discover America, & his mom in Italy (if he really had one) probably pronounced his surname Colombo a la the detective character made famous by Peter Falk. "Pakistan" = Land of the Pakis, just as Hindustan = Land of the Hindus & Kazakhstan = Land of the Kazakhs, etc. So no truly correct pronunciation exists in English. Obama & everybody else in the USA can all be right while pronouncing foreign words differently. Now, nuke-yu-ler is another story. Wonder why both Bush Jr & Lassie Palin pronounce that word that way? |
