No one in or out of the media should have to apologize for liking Senator Obama more than McCain.
Obama is more liked because he is more likeable. Those hundred thousand people cheering Obama? They don't think he's Jesus, but they know that he is nicer, smarter, calmer, happier, more optimistic, younger, happier nicer and calmer than anyone who has been in power in their young lives. The GOP guys are bullying, mean, loud, dramatic, frightening, anger-instilling, fear-raising, pessimistic, terrorizing, judgmental, angry, mean and pessimistic. Did I mention angry and mean? The GOP has a mascot right now that is a mean old grandpa. A character who has fought a lot of honorable battles but lost most of them really. Old man GOP says the "n" word purposely loud in the store and then pretends he is just too old to know better. He grabs the waitress's boob at Outback Steakhouse and he smells funny, in a bad way. If we misspeak he lashes out at us with hurting words of venom and bile. He compels us to act less intelligent than we actually are and he forces us to accept his dogmatic will at every turn. He makes us sit at the kids' table. The GOP mascot is old, crusty and outdated. The Democrats? They have this actual person who is like a nice younger sibling of our dad. He doesn't brag about battles he has fought - he gets us excited about the battles we are going to fight. He is calm and smart and sophisticated and an optimistic "winner". He listens to us kids and he doesn't talk down to us from his mysterious and enviable place of power. He seems like he will help us be happier. In fact, he already has. He's like a more sophisticated version of our parents when they were young. He smiles a lot. At the store he pays for a less fortunate out-of-towner's groceries when they don't have as much as they thought. He welcomes the server at Outback into our conversation. If we say something we didn't think through, he waits for us to clarify our voice. He compells us to be more intelligent than we thought we could be. He insists we all sit at one gloriously awkward table, even the old man and the waitress. The Republicans have Grandpa Sydney. The Democrats have Uncle Sam. Taxes have nothing to do with it. http://www.electorama.blogspot.com/ Ride for The Country Ride for The Country |

Something tells me this dude won't be sticking around here long, seeing as he's spammed about a dozen other Hey Martha forums with this same "unifying" post.

You have to admit that 'Ride for the country' thing is kinda catchy, though.

This is true. And plus, the Enid forum seems a lot more lively than some of the other City Forums on Hey Martha. Check out poor Oneonta, NY. Two things fill the mind with ever-increasing wonder and awe: the starry heavens above and the moral law within. --Immanuel Kant |

I am surprised to see someone from Park City endorsing Obama, seeing as the city has the 2nd highest per capita income in Utah (right behind the ultra-small resort town of Alta). We're talking the land of outrageous multi-million dollar houses nestled up against ski slopes - the Aspen or Vail of the western Rockies.
Definitely a lot of folk who are going to be above Obama's $250,000 threshold. Or was it $200,000? Or $150,000? Or $120,000? But then I'm not really that surprised. Park City is the liberal-rich's guilty little pleasure. A place for film festivals, and ski resorts, and paving over Utah's canyons with shopping boutiques that sell t-shirts that say "Save Utah's Canyons". "They don't think he's Jesus, but they know that he is nicer, smarter, calmer, happier, more optimistic, younger, happier nicer and calmer than anyone who has been in power in their young lives.

It always does my heart good to see liberals/Democrats don't resort to name calling. I also thought as I read this that it could have been simplified ala YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN. "Obama...gooooood....McCain..badddd". Yes, that sounds exactly the same sentiment with fewer words used. I also decided that perhaps I was wrong in my reasons for picking someone to be President. I thought I didn't want someone who thinks his job is to redefine the constitution and impose his views upon it. I thought I didn't want someone who says he's going to raise taxes only on people who make more than $250,000...then $200,000....then $150,000...etc. I thought I didn't want someone who associates with more far left people than most read about let alone meet, all the while claiming they were just acquaintances. But this post made it all clear to me. I have become enlightened, just as the members of the mainstream press have. The clouds have parted and the light has shown down upon me. I am blessed now to realize the only and single most important reason to elect someone to this exalted office. And that one single reason to elect someone is...."...because he is more likeable." Yeah and verily I have been anointed and am now to receive the blessings from the Messiah (as long as I don't make more than...whatever the figure is today). |

Interesting that the Republicans have attached "messiah" in a derogatory way to Obama. Yeah, that whole worship thing is pretty silly when you think about it, huh?
This from the people who voted for Bush twice, and even though most of them dislike McCain or don't think he is conservative enough, they will drink the kool-aid and vote for a Republican again. The past eight years mean nothing, the shape of the economy and the Republican leadership's total abandonment of conservative principles means nothing. If anybody is guilty of blind worship, it is someone who votes Republican on faith. |

Oops our mistake. We misunderstood Louis Farrakhan. We thought he was calling Sen. Obama the Messiah when what he actually said was to heed the words of the Messiah through the mouth of Obama. "You are the instruments that God is going to use to bring about universal change, and that is why Barack has captured the youth. And he has involved young people in a political process that they didn't care anything about. That's a sign. When the Messiah speaks, the youth will hear, and the Messiah is absolutely speaking." “Brothers and sisters, Barack Obama to me, is a herald of the Messiah. Barack Obama is like the trumpet that alerts you something new, something better is on the way." Our bad. Barack is NOT the Messiah, merely the mouthpiece through which he speaks. And this was not proclaimed by a Republican. Well, that is, unless Louis Farrakhan has suddenly become one. |

Media bias doesn't exist.
That's why the media quietly reported the illegal campaign contributions that Obama returned today. Yes, it was only $260, but this is $260 in PROVEN illegal campaign contributions. Had it been McCain or Palin, do you think the media would have been as gracious? http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081102/ap_on_el_pr/obama_a...RhjhFGSIXlqzkoQDW7oF Your ad here |

And, btw, the praise from Farrakhan does make Obama's claim not to be a Muslim suspect. It seems interesting that Farrakhan would call a non-Muslim the Messiah's mouthpiece.
But it's not impossible, so I'll leave it there. Your ad here |

So, as a blind Republican, I am to assume Barack Hussien Obama is more conservative than McCain??????? Admittedly, I would rather have Romney, Huckabee, Fred, or my personal fav.... Duncan Hunter as our nominee.... Compare the blind rep choice of McCain to the socialist choice of Barack Hussien Obama.... Yea... McCain gets my vote.... |

Well, with what's happened over the last week, if I were in a state where the only options were Obama or McCain, my vote would be solidly going to Obama.
Why is this, you ask? Because, frankly, I think the McCain camp has acted deplorably in its misogynistic attack on Sarah Palin. By throwing her under the bus as the excuse for why the party won't win, the GOP has shown itself to be entirely without scruples. John McCain had every chance to vet his VP candidate, and the campaign strategy didn't work. Now his people are eating their own in pouncing on Sarah Palin, and I, for one, find it disgusting. I am quite certain that, for whatever else he is, Barack "Hussein" (as conservatives love to call him) Obama at least has the integrity to stand behind the people who he handpicks to be a part of his campaign.
