Zogby Poll
512 Obama Voters 11/13/08-11/15/08 MOE +/- 4.4 points 97.1% High School Graduate or higher, 55% College Graduates Results to 12 simple Multiple Choice Questions 57.4% could NOT correctly say which party controls congress (50/50 shot just by guessing) 71.8% could NOT correctly say Joe Biden quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism (25% chance by guessing) 82.6% could NOT correctly say that Barack Obama won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot (25% chance by guessing) 88.4% could NOT correctly say that Obama said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket (25% chance by guessing) 56.1% could NOT correctly say Obama started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground (25% chance by guessing). And yet..... Only 13.7% failed to identify Sarah Palin as the person on which their party spent $150,000 in clothes Only 6.2% failed to identify Palin as the one with a pregnant teenage daughter And 86.9 % thought that Palin said that she could see Russia from her "house," even though that was Tina Fey who said that!! Only 2.4% got at least 11 correct. Only .5% got all of them correct. (And we "gave" one answer that was technically not Palin, but actually Tina Fey) |

You have conveniently failed to mention that a right-wing conservative website commissioned Zogby International to conduct this poll. In addition, it seems to fit the definition of a "push poll" which is defined as "a seemingly unbiased telephone survey that is actually conducted by supporters of a particular candidate and disseminates negative information about an opponent." "...several of the items on the survey contain information which, in addition to being negative, is arguably also untrue; (ii) Ziegler brags that the survey includes a trick question to which no correct answer can be provided, and that (iii) apparently only Obama voters were targeted by the survey (although this is not 100 percent clear)" Most of the questions on the survey take the form of a multiple choice political knowledge test, stating a "fact" to the respondent and asking them which of the four major candidates (Obama, McCain, Biden, Palin) the statement applies to. Questions include the following:

"Which of the four [candidates] said his policies would likely bankrupt the coal industry and make energy rates skyrocket?"

"Which of the four [candidates] started his political career at the home of two former members of the Weather Underground?"

"Which of the four [candidates] quit a previous campaign because of plagiarism?"

"Which of the four [candidates] won his first election by getting opponents kicked off the ballot?"

As should be obvious, the veracity of several of these claims is -- at best -- debatable, yet they are apparently represented as factual to the respondent. Zogby Engages in "push poll' The person responsible for the poll was later interviewed by telephone and his responses made it clear that the poll was little more than a "hit job" on Obama supporters. John Ziegler implodes "Today we begin in earnest the work of making sure that the world we leave our children is just a little bit better than the one we inhabit today." - President-Elect Barack Obama |

That's probably because that's NOT what happened! Obama did not get his opponent "kicked off the ballot--his opponent got caught in a sex scandal and stepped down--it seems he wasn't content having sex with his wife--he needed a group. That's pretty hard to understand when your wife looks like this: |

Yeah, those sore Republican losers who congratulated Obama in THIS thread. Somehow I don't think ya'll would be so gracious if McCain had won. At least if the two previous elections are any indicator.

No we would be posting how we need to put money in our mattresses because the depression is just around the corner.............Oh wait a minute people are already doing that. I wonder what the average intelligence of a Bush supporter is >>>>>>>>>> |

Well, we sure wouldn't be posting about the many ways the party in power will violate our Second Amendment right. But we'll see what happens. Clinton's pushing gun control and gay rights is what lost the Democrats both Houses in '94. Maybe having a gun-grabbing euro-liberal in the White House is what the Republicans need to take back Congress in 2-4 years. That and having self-righteous poor-winners like yourself insulting our intelligence. Still wondering if you support Obama's banning my STG-556 (ya know, the outrageously expensive collectors firearm that's never been used in the commission of a crime here). Been kinda quiet over in the gun thread since you were bombarded with logic and reason. Maybe we should have taken the AWB discussion one point at a time. Don't want to overwhelm you. Overwhelm me? Wow, because I choose not to get involved with a discussion I really think is silly? |

Yeah, constitutional rights are silly. What was I thinking trying to discuss such trivialities?
It'd be nice if all Democrats who don't know jack about guns would abstain from debating and voting on "silly" legislation that affects gun owners. Maybe we'd do the same about legislation on, say, gay marriage. Two things fill the mind with ever-increasing wonder and awe: the starry heavens above and the moral law within. --Immanuel Kant |
