In a move that should surprise noone, federal regulators today announced that there will be no relief for consumers with credit card debt. They have no problem coming up with billions for big companies, but they've made it clear that the American consumer can just suffer.

Now, I realize that people signed up willingly for the credit cards, but it's equally true that corporations just as willingly signed the contracts that put their companies under. It says a lot about the nature of our government that they are more than happy to give money to big business, but turn a blind eye as Americans feel the sting of the current economic crisis.

Man, if federal bailouts/buyouts of struggling banks and corporations is an indication that Republican leaders were in bed with big business, surely this latest pitch to save American automakers is evidence of how much Pelosi and her Democrats are in bed with Union bosses!

Two things fill the mind with ever-increasing wonder and awe: the starry heavens above and the moral law within.

Thats exactly why i have said many times that the bail out should of went to the common man and let the bail out trickle up instead of going to the big buisness for the trickle down effect becausr the trickle down will be dammed up after the first or second layer and never reach the common man

Actually i was 100% against the bail out period but if the goverment was hell bent on wasting 700 billion bucks i think it should of went from the bottom up not the top down...

Union bosses are just as big business as the businesses they claim to fight...every politician on the Hill is in bed with big business!

I'm really tired of being called a consumer. It makes us sound like big devouring monsters. We are citizens, not giant eating machines.

I see that they want the lines of credit opened so that we can borrow again. Didn't that already not work? How much can we purchase? Where will we keep 7 sets of Egyptian 900-thread-count sheets when we are living in our cars? Where will we keep the granite counters and the Sub-Zero refrigerators and the $40,000.00 stoves? I ask again, who died and made us the DuPonts?

This idea of growing the pie infinitely will only end up devouring us like a cancer. Why must the economy constantly expand? We need to find a stable point and say that success is ours and stop this cancerous growth before it kills us.

There must be a limit to consumption somewhere, some point at which we can rest and be happy.

When did it become OK for us to be mindless consumers driving this huge uncontrollable spending machine? I guess probably when every Christmas called for completely new decorations, and renting storage for the old. I refuse. I just say no. I will not borrow a cent.

If the European system is so bad then why do we spend so much money to go there and hate to come home? If the Fall of Rome was the end of the world then why is Rome still full of Romans?

I hate being considered a consumer by my government. It makes me feel like a giant slug, never satisfied, just eating and eating until I weigh 700 pounds.

I'm so glad to know we apply socialism to corporations, but we stick to our good old free-market principles when it comes to individuals. Roll Eyes
