ISN'T IT AMAZING! A COMPANY IS WILLING TO INVEST $200,000, 000, EMPLOY 750 PEOPLE WITH WELL PAYING JOBS AND DOES NOT DEMAND AN AIRPORT EXPANSION. WAKE UP!

That's my point there are not many businesses that need an airport. Airports cost a lot of $ to maintain, use that money more wisely.

I understand what you are saying, however I have not seen any of these owners/managers publicaly come forward & explain their needs. Perhaps people would be more receptive if they would.

I would have much more respect if a company would let their needs be known, there are always doubts that they exist, they don't even let us know through forums such as this. In other words I doubt they exist.

You are underestimanting the public's insight. The public needs to know the needs of business's and then make decisions based on those needs, until then the people I talk to think expansion is for a "personal playground".

Now, you and I both know a 4,000 ft. runway is not adequate if we are trying to make the airport attractive to industry. The BOAC has miserbly failed in their efforts to sell this project, it is time the BOAC and those who really need the expansion to get their "heads out of sand". Business owners do not need to make thiis a battle just simply state their needs so a intellegent decision can be made. Tell us how much runway you need, what type aircraft will be used, how often will it be used and how will this enhanse their business.

Again, don't understimate the public's ability, if owners do not let us know what they need they do not deserve consideration. Please urge those you are refering to to come out of the closet, they do not have to be combative just give us the fact's. ( I wish there was a spell check on this forum, please excuse my mispellings.)

YOU AND I ARE GETTING CLOSER ON THIS. WILL YOU AGREE THE FIRST PROPOSAL FOR A 6,500 FT R/W WAS TOO MUCH AND THE LATEST FOR A 4,000 FT. R/W IS NOT ENOUGH. IT APPEARS THE BOAC DID NOT DO MUCH IN SEARCHING FOR A ALTERNATE SITE AS WAS REQUESTED BY COUNTY OFFICALS, THEN RUSH BACK WITH PROPOSAL FOR ONLY 4,000 FT.

LETS FACE IT THE BOAC DOES NOT HAVE MUCH CREDIBILTY WITH THE PUBLIC. TO GET SUPPORT IT IS GOING TO TAKE PEOPLE LIKE YOU TO MOVIDATE THOSE BUSINESS OWNERS TO COME FORWARD AND EXPLAIN THEIR NEEDS. THEY SHOULD NOT BE PARANOID, GIVE US SOME FACTS, DON'T BLOW SMOKE LIKE SOME HAVE. MAKE PEOPLE REALIZE THAT A NEW AIRPOT WILL NOT BRING NEW BUSINESS IN OVERNIGHT.

WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON LOCATION. THE PRESENT LOCATION OR A NEW SITE.

Let's be realistic, prevailing winds in this part of the country are from the southwest, why do you think IND's two main R/W'S are NE/SW. Idealy any airport should have a SW/NE runway. A east west runway is out of the question at the present location, imagine landing and taking off over the fairgrounds. With the dream of having larger aircraft the flight path would be over populated areas, any thought of instrument approach would be out of the question because of the tower on SW60.

AS far as trying to gain support from C of C and EDC they have not done much to gather support.

If what you have discovered is true the result of expanding at the present location will be a 4000ft. r/w with no hope of ever expanding beyond, no federal fund's, leaving the future expense of maintaing the airport entirely up to the local taxpayer's. Would this be attractive to industry, I say no!

Let's face the truth if it is importand to have a expanded airport the present location is not the place. Since this forum gets limited exposure it is time you and others to inform local city and county officals of what you have learned.

I have sent letter's and talked to both, all some see are the so called free $$$$$. not looking beyond the completion of the pavement

My only stake in this is I hate to see a foolish use of tax $$. after all the federal fund's would come out of the taxes we all pay.

North Vernon, Seymour, Connersville, Anderson all have larger airports,
is theie economy any better than our,s?

Speak out or end up with a white elephant that will drain local taxpayer $$$.

Don P.

RIGHEXC I APOLIGIZE YOU HAVE SPOKEN OUT FOR A NEW LOCATION, I GOT SO FIRED UP THE LAST PORTION OF YOUR POST DID NOT SINK IN UNTIL I REVIEWED IT AGAIN.

Skipper, you are on target, I really do not think an expanded airport is the answer to economic problems. What I worry about is the taxpayer cost after a new airport is built.

I have made my point to city and county leaders and have yet seen any of them address future costs, I understand that if grant money is used for present or alternate site the land the airport set's on must be purchased.

Right exc,

Check with your source, where did they get the idea that a 4,000 ft rw could simply be extended. Whoever came up with this is either deceiving or very ignorant, any extension would have to be approved by the FAA, you just don't go lay asphalt without crossing all the T's and dotting all the i's. If the FAA will not give grant money for more than 4,000 ft. it is unlikely they would approve extension reguardless of who pays for it.

If you would like set a time I will buy the coffee and engage in friendly conversation

I missed the Governor's interview on WTRE 1330 this morning at 8:15 am. Can anyone update me? Was it relevant to these conversations?
