Pastor John Hagee has revised his view of God's wrath, and chances are John McCain couldn't be happier.
Without fanfare, in an e-mail sent the latter part of Friday, Hagee backed off his assertion that Hurricane Katrina was the Almighty's punishment of New Orleans because it had planned to host a gay pride parade. Hagee's history of anti-Catholic statements already has made his high-profile endorsement of McCain a mixed blessing. And much to the McCain camp's chagrin, Hagee earlier this week reiterated his opinion that God targeted New Orleans -- remarks coming as the presumptive Republican presidential nominee geared up for a campaign stop in the still-recovering city. http://latimesblogs.latimes.com/washington/2008/04/mccain-backer-j.html |

Hagee and Wright are a fine example of why I am not a practicing, church going christian.

Hagee's statement:
"All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are -- were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans." -Hagee [NPR Fresh Air, 9/18/06] |

Oddly enough the French Quarter and Faubourg Marigny stayed high and dry. I guess God missed the majority of the gay community with his hurricane punishment... |

When McCain was playing kissy poo with the radical right he said that he was "very proud to have Pastor Hagee’s support" he later said that seeking his support was "probably a mistake." Does anyone know if McCain has discussed his buddies comments on hurricane Katrina being a punishment from God for NO holding a gay pride parade?

Ok, I'll bite (
is a 20-year relationship where one calls the other his mentor (Wright and Obama) the same as an endorsement (McCain and Hagee)? Didn't Marxist-Obama say he couldn't control who endorses him? And why are gay people all of a sudden important to you again? James Meeks, another Marxist-Obama "friend" and "mentor" is "THE ANTI-GAY!" ...silence... |

PA, I am just concerned in personal responsibility here. If we are going to hold candidates responsible for the words of their associates, lets do it. Did Hagee endorse fascist-McCain?
Or maybe when you stop playing political games we can start discussing issues that matter. I would start first but I doubt that one bit of modeling would fast track your maturity in any measurable way. Plus, what would you read about at freeperville? Health care? Being smart on terrorism? I doubt it. |

You know, in many ways McCain's relationship with Hagee is more telling and disgusting than Obama's relationship with Wright. Obama has maintained a friendship with a man he admires, even though he doesn't necessarily agree with him on everything. He can look past Wright's politics to see he is doing good in the community. Same with Meeks.
McCain, on the other hand, sought out right-wing zealots like Hagee and Falwell to gain credibility with the religious right. He has a lot in common with Hillary: he will do or say anything to get elected, even associate with people he despises. Or as the saying goes--politics makes strange bedfellows. |

...your real motive here as a Marxiast-Obama defender. Of course you don't think Obama's relationship with his mentor is relevant! Who would expect YOU to?! |

McCain isn't quite AS slobberingly obsequious as Billary, but there are a lot of veterans who intensely dislike him... and for the reasons you have cited. I disagree with their estimation of McCain, but it is true that he has an ability to look past some things he maybe shouldn't sometimes. |

Who is playing games!!!! LOL! Somehow you don't think Obama's 20 year long mentor-sip with Wright is relevant! Interesting how you post this the day Wright comes out and repeats his radical words without the "cutting and editing" you liberals previously complained about!!! ----- and quite a different subject, but do you even know what a fascist is?! ...a governmental system led by a dictator having complete power, forcibly suppressing opposition and criticism, regimenting all industry, commerce, etc., and emphasizing an aggressive nationalism and often racism. McCain?!?!?! ROFL! You liberals are funny... |

The political and economic philosophy of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels in which the concept of class struggle plays a central role in understanding society's allegedly inevitable development from bourgeois oppression under capitalism to a socialist and ultimately classless society.
Barak is no Marxist, stupid neo-cons. |
