I have wondered this myself. When did the Republican party become the gullible party? Why do they believe the e-mails? Why do they believe the lies in the attack ads? Not only do they have the rediculous e-mails that are easily debunked, they have this huge market for hate-mongering, slack-jawed idiots making millions of dollars spewing partisan BS laced with lies and enuendo to those who are so eager to eat it up without question. We have just gone through 8 years of constant lying and cover-up by the most corrupt administration ever. Still, many of them would vote for Bush again if given the chance. You can't blame it all on people that are just plain dumb. Many of the people that buy into their misinformation, hate talk and lies are otherwise intellegent/educated people. So what is it? I hate to say it, but, there are at least two major factors that play a huge roll in their decision making. Religion and Racism. And, the Right Wing machine has capitolized on this. They exploit those fears and beliefs to their advantage. When they can't get ahead on real issues, or when they start getting hammered for bad policy or corruption, what do they do? Change the subject. To what? Abortion, Gay marriage. Pulling the plug on some brain dead girl. Fear of other religions. And, of course, the veiled racism of linking someone, (No matter how distantly), to a bad person of another color or religion. And it works. The Limbaughs, Hannitys and Coulters of the world know this, and are laughing all the way to the bank. At the country's expense.

Why does this type of ridiculous propaganda only seem to come from the right? Is the right more gullible? Less intelligent? Have more internet connections? Email accounts?
All of the ridiculous chain emails are FROM the right and spread ridiculous lies and propaganda ABOUT the left.
Why? Please discuss.
Maybe you don't have enough lefties in your family. While I do get more chain emails from the righties in my family, I also get them from the lefties on occasion too.

I've not seen any of them, but would like to read them.
Oh they were just about lefty issues in general...nanny state sorts of things, not really related to the election directly. Like I said, I get more from the righties in my family (much more) but I do get the occasional chain email from the lefties in my family.

Not just to their like minded brethren, but to everyone else on their list. Personally, I just delete most of them. There's no law that says you have to read every email that comes into your box.

Personally, I just delete most of them. There's no law that says you have to read every email that comes into your box. I feel it is my duty as an American to battle BS at every turn. I could delete them or I could spend a few seconds and reply with the facts.

A few seconds? LOL You must not be getting the emails I get. A few seconds is not going to straighten out the goofy idealogy I see in the emails I get.

Republicans have always been better at the word game, spinning the truth, influencing people through misinformation. That's not to say the Democrats haven't done their fair share, but the right is much, much better at it. Republicans have also been better at spreading their ideaology through different mediums. The internet is no different, and much more convenient and widely seen than television, newspapers, billboards, flyers on cars, whathaveyou. And since e-mails tend to come from people you know, there is a psychological connection that lends credibility to whatever is in that e-mail.
Why do people believe them? I have no idea. My father is an intelligent professional, holding Masters degrees in Chemistry and Electronics. He travels, reads a lot and is generally a pretty sharp guy. But 1-2 times a week, he does his civic duty by forwarding me the latest "Obama's a Muslim/Terrorist/Alien" e-mail. I generally return them (copying in every person included in the original message) and return it with facts and linked sources. I can only hope that by debunking these bits of nonsense, a few people will realize they've been used and will start paying more attention to what they believe.
My mother is also an intelligent professional, but only tends to send me the "Don't leave your drink unattended in a bar or you'll wake up in an ice-filled bathtub with no kidneys" type e-mails.
