Question 742, on the General Election ballot, will amend the Oklahoma State Constitution to forever recognize your Right to Hunt and Fish. This will provide a permanent Constitutional safeguard against anti hunting efforts in the state of Oklahoma.

Hey Best,

I read this question a couple of days ago and it seemed straight-forward. As a formerly active sportsman I didn't see any harm in it, but on second glance it seems rather vague. Will a positive outcome to the question have any affect on current wildlife conservation efforts within the state?

It's pretty much an attempt to forestall any future shennanigans by the anti hunting crowd.

SQ 742 is a cruel proposal. If you read it in detail and in legalese, it provides that only hunting shall be used to control animal populations. It does not allow other methods to control overpopulation, which WILL cause problems in the future.

It is not necessary that hunting and fishing rights be enshrined in our already unworkable constitution. A law would be good enough.

People will always have the right to hunt and fish...and own weapons...and go to whatever church they want to....and to use the bathroom when they need to go #2....

...where does common sense end and the need to write every occurance of every circumstance of all obvious thing in the world into law begin?

We need to vote yes on OK state question 757, which mandates by law that when you walk you put one step in front of the other.

I for one am sick and tired of the basic rules of AMERICAN walking are not being enforced.

Oklahoma state question 742.

This measure adds a new section to the State Constitution. It adds Section 36 to Article 2. It gives all people of this state the right to hunt, trap, fish and take game and fish. Such activities would be subject to reasonable regulation. It allows the Wildlife Conservation Commission to approve methods and procedures for hunting, trapping, fishing and taking of game and fish. It allows for taking game and fish by traditional means. It makes hunting, fishing, and trapping the preferred means to manage certain game and fish. The new law will not affect existing laws relating to property rights.

I don't see anything evil in the measure. Game laws will remain the same. If it adds a roadblock to the wacko anti-hunter groups, I think it may be a good thing. I'm an equal-opportunity wacko hater. If they ever impose another assult rifle ban, they also need to ban PETA.
