I don't know if this ia good topic but might be fun. What city and state were you born in. If you want my dad did what for a living.

Sibley, Iowa and my dad was a farmer since maybe 1943. He bought 160 acres from the estate of my Grandpa that owned two 160 farms. Now that was a major accomplishment during the depression and he threased oats with his threasher. My dad had 440 acres and 50 head of milk cows and about 150 head of beef. My job was to milk the milk cows before and after school. He might help after school.

I was born in Mankato, and my dad was an appliance salesman. This occupation moved us around quite a bit, because he seemed to have a problem with letting roots establish.

I was born in Mankato.
My father was born in Mankato
My paternal grandfather was born in Mankato
My paternal great-grandfather was born in Holland and came directly to Mankato at age 3 in 1888.

My mother was born in Mankato.
My maternal grandmother was born in Mankato...

You get the idea. Basically, every one of my ancestors for at least 3 generations was born in Mankato or the surrounding townships, some as early as the late 1850s.

Interesting how many people from the Midwest are from a long line of locals. Cool. That is not generally the case in much of the West. I was born in Casa Grande, Arizona. My father is from Arkansas and my mother from Louisiana. My dad was a principal and my mother a school teacher.

az122, are you planning on setting up an identity theft ring? I ask, becuase this is one of those wonderful common security questions that I need to get an email sent to me with my password. Smiler

Seriously though, I was born in a town in South West Minnesota, and raised in Garden City (12 miles SouthWest of Mankato). My dad was from Garden City, as were both of his parents. My mother was from Vernon Center, as were both of her parents.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a fool about it.

I was born in Little Rock
Had a childhood sweetheart
We walked hand in hand
I wore high-top shoes and shirttails
Susie wore the pigtails
I knew I loved her even then...

(first one to correctly name song and artist wins)
