Let's start early and figure out a Sunday afternoon that we can meet up somewhere for a few hours of burning gun powder, emptying of brass casings, punching holes in paper, powdering some Blue Rock and charring brats over charcoal. Cool Yes, this means you too JKelly and other Ladies on the forums! Cool

I figure sometime around the 1st of June should be far enough in advance. Razzer

Family members are more than welcome to come along also.

Let's hear some ideas of places, dates and times to do this!

Okay...um...I am open the weekend of the 5th of June. Fri, Sat, Sun. Otherwise, every other weekend works for me.

Being I work nights, I don't function too well before 2pm. Smiler

I chip in on some brats.

Sounds like a fun time to be had in the near future. I'll have to see how June looks at a later date - have some work things possibly coming up then that may impede my availability. Should have the new toy by then though as well Smiler

Ideally, if someone had someplace in the country where we could have safe backround for shooting...we could also throw some pidgeons up for the shotguns. And I have a target I purchased that hasn't yet been hit. It is an auto reset with six targets designed for lighter handguns. (It's still in the box...yes, Dave..I could HEAR your mind working on that one!)

The 1st of June is a Sunday as is the 8th, either will work for us-I already cleared it with upper management.

Let the smoke clear....late in the day!

So maybe I know such a guy, small pistol range and a basic mounted pigeon thrower, very shy and worried about legal issues. How could he be assured there wouldn't be some kind of stupid legal issue because, oh lets say, some graceful idiot fell on his face and did more permanent damage to his looks than he already had?

First, everyone who attends must be ugly.... Big Grin

Seriously, good question. I would add, if it would help, I am an EMT so the person would have that on hand. Also, the caliber of the people on the gun threads are "safety first". I am more worried about the burning of the brats. Wink

Anyone else got an answer?

Most definitely some very valid concerns.

However, like JKelly mentioned (the 'safety thing'), the members that I've met with and gone shooting with from these forums, are all about 'safety first' when firearms are present. Worst case scenario would be for your 'friend' to have some waivers drawn up for everyone that attends to sign before any firearms are uncased.

I was thinking of maybe contacting one of the area 'Sportsman Clubs' to see about using their range and if it would be possible, would there be any cost for range rental.

That way, I could also bring along a couple rifles that are begging to be 'fed well'. Wink

Well, I got the ugly part down Roll Eyes
I understand the concern, maybe some sort of waiver could be made up and signed. Not sure if that would work, I am definitely not a lawyer. The first part of June may have work issues for me but around the weekend of the 14th looks ok so far. Maybe SpiderPig will have his new toy by then. Big Grin

I'm sure you are all sick of hearing me talk about my stupid work .......

However, I am all for this and would love to be a part of it. I have access, keys to and rights to open and run a range at anytime. It would mean a fifty mile drive from Mankato, but we have a pistol bay, rifles can be shot at up to 200 yards (not while shooting trap or in the bay), and two throwers (one singles and one singles/doubles).

We have some targets for USPSA style shooting (two steel poppers, a swinger and several stands for paper) that add to the fun. We have an air rifle trailer that can be set up. I also have a couple .22 steel reset targets and also a couple larger caliber handgun resets.

We have a grill, refer, and even a porti-pottie.

There would be a little cost, but we keep it low - We've been doing $3.00 for a round of 25 trap, and when we go down shooting for an afternoon everyone usually throws in $5.00. We kinda watch what we go through on the USPSA paper targets to make sure their covered (they cost us about $0.75 each).

We do allow beer, but those coolers can't come out of the vehicles until all guns are put away. So, after all the shooting is done and we graduate from hotdogs to steaks the BS and brew can flow.

I can pretty much guarantee that if we do this there will be a few others that will join us.

I know we're fifty miles away, but it is something I'd be willing to put together. This is a regular club, and the nice thing about asking you for the $5.00 is that it makes you an event member, and then our liability insurance kicks in for anything you do.

Once planting is done, a few of us get together to shoot out there on a couple Sunday's per month, and we do other stuff from time to time along with regular trap on Thursdays.

Thanks for the offer M58, sounds perfect and now there would be insurance for the "pending clutz"...lol

I don't have a problem driving down to spend some time on a formal range with a bunch of gun nuts...just like me!

I'll bring my arsenal and if someone would like to see different weapons it could be a great learning experience, I'm sure others have more than I do so I'll see some different ones as well.

All I see that is left is to choose the day...

Let's get 'er done....

June 8th and 22nd are the two that I am not supposed to have to work. However, I'm typing this without checking with the social director, so .......................

National Brew Fest is the 20th & 21st so I'm not sure if I'll be up to much on the 22nd. I wont be drinking but I go for the music. Either should work though - I say should pending my work - which lately has been consuming most of my nights and weekends.

Okay, next question.

Being I have little in the arsenal/ammo area, can I shoot your stuff? With the costs of guns and ammo, I would be willing to pay more in the food/beer area.
