Now maybe a little off topic for you ladies. Last I year I and another put together a NRA clinic, Woman on Target, that we held at Key Cities Conservation Club. It is ladies only, only men alowed are instructors and we had 11 certified instructors with a wide range of experience. It is limited to 50 women, the fee we charged last year was $10, but I think this year it may have to increase. The fee included a light lunch and beverages, the ammunition to fire all the firearms which included shotguns at clay pigeons, semi-auto and revolvers at targets, bolt action and evil black rifles fired at steel and bowling pins, plus this year we plan to add an archery shoot at 3D targets. Door prizes which included some gift certificates to Scheels, free firearm training and also a membership to Key Cities Conservation Club among other things like hats and shirts.

The plan is for late August and I will try to post info here if any of you ladies are interested.

Sounds great.

Finally, common sense emerges. Sorry I will miss it (by choice). Good luck.

Great stuff. If things work out, I will try to talk two ladies into participation.

Hi there, olderchick 40:

The term, "PC," befuddles me.

Does that mean, "politically chickens**t?"

As for my comment above regarding the get-together, I was stating a simple fact as I see it. Call a spade a spade. Introverted? Extroverted? You tell me.

IT would appear to me that you've never been on an open range; gun etiquete when without a range safety officer is quite simple. "Cold Range"-ALL weapons down or in a direction that is safe while people are checking targets. "Hot Range"-ok to fire downrange.

Maybe I'm being too sensitive....but I don't care for the implication of an unsafe environment. I don't think anyone is planning on placing an apple on their head.

The reason I did not respond to your query concerning selling/trading is that I don't know you. I don't know where you obtained your sale items. And I certainly don't want any issues down the road.

I've known Cobb for over 35 years, GTDave for over 10 years. If we strike a deal I'm more than comfortable, someday I might have different thoughts concerning you....

There...befuddlement over.

If the "variety" of folks that we draw into our online conversations is any indication of who could be attracted to this outing...I would be very cautious as to how the actual location(when decided) is revealed.

I would be interested in the ladies training thing, (not necessarily ladies only) I haven't shot anything since the BB gun in the 60's and a one time trial with the "family" shotgun a few years later. Smiler

olderchick40, come join us. If for no other reason than to get to know us and eat dead mammals that will be grilled to (hopefully) perfection.

Maybe we could get you and Breeze to ride down together. We'll be needed some "third party" observers so when the results of the trap shooting are posted, you can verify that there was no.....adjusting of totals.

katomur:

My reference in the earlier post, "Write it off to distinctly separate philosophies between me and some in this crowd regarding the appropriate use of guns," was written due to remarks made by a couple of people writing in the Tony Cornish thread. While I had not noticed any posts from ArmyWhat'sHisName indicating that he would be attending this event, it appeared as though m58 would pretty much be running the show. I don't think he and I would get along very well, therefore I lost any interest I might have had in attending. Sorry if the reason for my earlier comment was not made clear.

You're probably right about "open range" shooting if that means walking in and/or paying at the door to shoot with others, most of whom you don't know, in an informal setting. I've never had a reason or the necessity to shoot in that sort of an environment.

Ya know, before the Wells Gun show, I had never met Spider Pig. I've known katomur for over 10 years, but didn't know he was on these forums until we started coresponding via email.

katomur and I went shooting one time (so far) and had a good time. Between the range and BS'ing afterwards, I think we managed to burn about 3 hours of a Saturday afternoon.

The last time I went shooting, Spider Pig dragged Silverado along and my B-I-L snuck in (didn't know he was gonna be there). The 4 of us spent an hour or so shooting and a good 45 minutes afterwards BS'ing.

While we don't all have the same political, religious or many other common views about life in general, we do all share one thing in common, the love of firearms and shooting them, whether it be for fun or competition.

Yeah, ol spider pig had to really twist my arm to get me to poke some holes in the paper Big Grin That was a good time and if we had an opportunity to use more of our guns on a bigger range that would sure be a better time. I would agree with you that we share a passion for using our firearms but we can definitely differ on our political and religious views, but big deal. Each person is entitled to their own views and opinions, that is what makes this country so great. I hope the conversations from the other thread (cornish) doesn't spill over to this one, I want to stay out of that mess and they have definitely hijacked that thread. Roll Eyes I would love to get together with some of you folks, but depending on the day, it seems work may get in the way Frowner I am sure we could show spiderpig how to efficiently blow clay pigeons out of the sky. Cool

My new toy came in but the FFL dealer I had it shipped to left for Turkey hunting today so now I have to try to schedule a time to meet up and get the paperwork done with his business partner who isn't always available either. Can't wait to try it out though.
