Might I ask where in Louisiana you are moving from? We are about to relocate there. I might trade some info from Meridian if you can help me with info about there. Wink I have a house for sale, too.

I can hook you up with the absolute best neighborhood, without traffic, and the best school district without question. This is without city taxes, but close enough to be convenient.
Post contact information and I'll do all I can to help you.

First of all, Dess, welcome to the forum. It's nice that you'll be joining us here in God's Country.

Let me offer you 2 tidbits of advice:

1. We need an email address if we're going to email you information.

and

2. Don't ask the people on here a question like this. It's for your own good. All that's going to happen is more confusion when everyone starts giving their opinion of the best part of the area to live (usually their own neighborhood). Then the disagreements will break out and it'll be like everything else around here and the original question will get ignored.

Oh and watch out for someone trying to push a house on you, it's probably for personal reasons... With the exception of URI, he really does have a nice house to offer in a great neighborhood and school district.

Thanks Muppet. We love it, but it has to go.
SheepDog looked long and hard to find a neighborhood that safe for kids. Since he's back in school in Jackson he bought a house in Brandon.
I have tried to get SheepDog to keep this house and lease it until he comes back. However, the way it looks, he probably won't come back. Most people who leave Meridian for a while never return.

I wouldn't blame him a bit, Uri. I've been to that neighborhood, it's a very nice and quiet place.

Those that leave and come back, sometimes scratch their heads wondering why.

Goob, you are so right. I am one of those who escaped and found myself coming back full circle. I have really enjoyed my time back here. Aside from all of the political bickering, the residents of Meridian are some of the friendliest and generous people on the planet. I grew up here and I would recommend it to anyone, (except for that time we were drag racing on King Road and flipped a car into the swamp. That was before the dam at the reservoir was completed.) Other than that brush with death, it was a fun place to grow up.
