RE: http://www.thetimestribune.com/letters/local_story_293082152.html

There is still alot of racism in Corbin,Ky and it's now 2008 and we are suppose to be past this in our country as a whole. To have to experience in this time day age is very scary for my children who are innocent. For they have to experience this racism is SAD. Me and my family moved to corbin in sept 2007 from la california
have experienced this kind of of racism here in Corbin still by many people who are still being sick their thinking. Me being white and my Husband being African American can not even get employment we get stares and comments from people when we go to town or out to eat as a family. I had a job and was fired from that job due to the fact that my supervisor was angry at me for i worked alot of over time 7/12hr days for 1 1/2-2 months straight and i made more money than she did and she seen a pay stub of mine one day when i accessed it on line as she walked around the room for i was in a call center setting for that was part of her job to walk around from time to time during her shift and so when she seen this she got angry for i made more than she sis in one pay check than she did all month she was on salary and could not do overtime and i was hourly and was able to put in all the overtime i wanted to and so She Stated to her Boss and other co-workers that she did not like people like me moving here and making more more money than her and she worked her butt off and besides i was just married to a dam nigger and have nigger babies. Now this is still how alot of people here think and then there is a few that claim not to think this way but still do nothing to put pressure on people like this to stop the racism that goes on behind closed doors so to speak here is sickening and so for the results of her doing this to me. I have not been able to obtain other employment in Corbin , Ky and so i was able to survive with paying my bills and all for two months and now I can not pay all my bills and I have to move out because of being evicted and not being able to find more work in Corbin. The resources are very very limited and I have the EEOC that has stepped in and filed charges on the company and so now it is a waiting game with no income and no help. So we are being forced to move out of Corbin, Ky
Plus i have children that i do not want them to be exposed to this kind of racism, and it just isn't RIGHT for this is not 1919 or even 1999 it is 2008 and I didn't even know places like this even still existed in this country. Dam you people who are still stuck in a time warp. For it must be an extremely sad place to be. For i am not a judge and jury but Our father in heaven is and for he sees no color nor dose he discriminate for we are all his children.

Welcome to Corbin.

Sorry to hear about your and your family's ordeal there. Its nothing new. I grew up there in the early 70's through the 80's. I left as soon as I was 18. I would strongly advise you to do the same and look elsewhere. Your husband will NEVER be accepted. Your children will be stigmatized and ostracized by their multi-racial background and the over-abundance of idiots that still inhabit the area. As Ron White says, "You can't fix stupid."

Not ALL corbinites are small-minded, uneducated, KKK wannabes....but there are plenty enough backwoods, inbred bubbas to make it an undesirable location to settle and raise a family...at least for me.

Good luck to you and your family...you are REALLY going to need it if you stay.

Judging by the way you talk about your old hometown, I doubt anyone shed a tear when you left or misses you today.

The truth hurts doesn't it? I always like how when this subject comes up and I throw in my 2 cents about my own real life experiences there...NO ONE EVER denies the charges...they just say things like..."I doubt anyone shed a tear when you left or misses you today." Roll Eyes

Ever since Obama started his campaign, everybody harps about racism. Why hasn't Hillary become the nominee yet? Reverse racism. Affirmative action. I'm sorry to be so unPC but Ferraro had it right. He is so "lucky" to be black.

I don't consider your ranting, hysterical BS to be anywhere near the truth. I doubt you left here because of racism. More than likely you were hard to get along with or owed some debts or something and skipped out as quickly as you could. Maybe you got evicted for not paying your rent. Sorry Corbin didn't suit you, but get over it and move on. No use holding a grudge against such a nice community.

LMAO...your post shows how little you actually know. Nope didn't leave over racism....I left because it was a backwards community with no future for a young man who had greater asspirations. Wasn't in debt...didn't owe anyone a dime. But nice try. And I get along with most...though I do have a pretty low tolerance for stupidity and the things that go with it...like racism. BTW...your "nice community" has a crime rate about 5 times what it is where I live now even though the population of my city is over 100,000. We have had 2 murders here in the last 3 years.

Its fine that you take offense to my disdain for most of your area's population. That's your option. You can even continue to make incorrect assumptions about me...that's fine too. However, I once again notice that you, nor anyone else, refutes my assertions that Corbin is an extremely racist community.

I am going to go out on a limb and guess that me pointing out one of your community's many short-comings pisses you off makes you resort to personal attacks instead of actually addressing the subject at hand.
