Cousins, Ratsnake, Threelegged, and I are getting away for awhile and are taking an auto sight-seeing trip across the United States. I will make reports once in awhile when I get the time. We drove to Webster Springs, W. Virginia. Ratsnake has friends there and in Ten Mile and Buckhanon. We had beans and corn bread for lunch. Then Ratsnake tried to buy some "white lightnin" and the revenooers chased him all over the hills until he managed to hide in a "holler". Threelegged was after some blond cutie but her husband found out, shot buckshot at him, and he had to hide in a tree till dark. Raccoons chashed him down. Anyway, I picked my kin up (what else could I do) and we got the heck outta the hills of W. Virginia and are headed south. My cousins will be the death of me,yet.. But that "white lightnin" did taste pretty good! Will keep you "abreast"( nice word) of the next leg!(another nice word!)

Ft. Meyers Fla. is beautiful with Cape Coral nearby with white sandy beaches. All the way through Fla. we found angry people. Angry because they are not allowed to vote in the Dem. primary. Many we talked to are saying they will vote for McCain.80 and holding Beautiful State. Rat and Three are behaving. They love the bikinis at Cape Coral and the food all around. Many "snowbirds" are heading north. Talked to one guy from Kingsville. He loves the winters here but not the summers.
Well ,Rat wants to see the Everglades. Then we will head west. Gotta go. Threelegged is after some cute blond. I smell trouble. Later!

hey! i just moved back here from ft myers! go eat at jalapeno's-the best mexican food ever! and very authentic because of the large mexican population there! make sure you go to captiva and sanibel island!

Ratsnake is driving and we went through Jackson, Mississippi on our way west. Jackson was named after President, Andrew Jackson. It is a very nice place with all the southeren comfort. We stopped at the Jackson Baking Co. and bought some delicious home made southern white bread with hard crust. Threelegged wanted a boloney sandwich so we bought some, got some mayonaisse and stopped at a park bench. We ate several baloney sandwiches and had some root beer. Better than an expensive restaurant! I wanted something sweet so we found a place called Sal and Mookies that made home made ice-cream. All three of us divulged a large cone and we were on our way. Passed the Jackson zoo. Rat wanted to stop to see the monkeys( wonder why) and so we did. Had a good time there seeing many animals and eating peanuts.
So we left Mississippi and are headed west. Lot of fun so far. Rat and Three are staying out of trouble. But I have to watch them all the time. Gas is $.3.30 a gal. here! Will have to cut corners..... Talk to you later!

Be careful down south.. I know how rat and 3legged like to go after the girls...... IF you get into a bind call me and I will gas the plane up and come and get you. However, rat can't fly the plane. Last time he did I had to get the engine fixed.

Didn't think we'd ever get out of Texas. All Threelegged wanted to do was ride horses and show off to the ladies. Barbecues all over the place. And space and more space. Small towns with fields and praries in between. Never saw so many cattle and pick- up trucks. The people of Texas are very nice. Met so many kind and caring people. Many Latinos here, too, and a lot of Mexican food. Ratsnake met a senorita in El Paso. Thought they would end up in Mexico but we dragged him away. A lot of people wanted to know all about Ohio. Ate many steaks and burritos as we head east towards California. Ratsnake is wearing a bandana and Three legged fell asleep in the back seat. Too much tequila and Coors beer,I guess. Had to put a new battery in Old Betsy. We have a full tank of gas and are enjoying our trip. Wish you were with us! Will report later. Adios, pardners!

Orange County, California. What a nice place. Had lunch with Mr. Sinclair. We talked about our old West St. days. He was shocked to hear about West Jr. High being torn down. Why wasn't it and Columbus Jr. High put up for sale like Harbor High was the topic we were discussing? Guess the school board has a lot of money. Wondered why they are gonna close Chestnut? Guess the NAACP has a lot of clout. The school board forgot about closing Thurgood Marshall!. It pays to make noise.. Many people we talked to couldn't believe a city the size of Ashtabula will soon have NO schools if the school board has their way!
Anyway, we ate at some nice places. Gas is very high out here and so is the cost of living. Ate a lot of California oranges. Ratsnake and Threelegged want to see the Pacific and the bikini clad ladies so we will head for the beach. We have a lot of relatives in Anaheim, that we will visit. Too hot for me out here and too expensive but beautiful country. We will be heading north along the coast.. God Bless the USA. We'll talk to you later. Vayo con Dios, amigos!

Wow, what a wedding in Anaheim. Ravioli,sausage,roast beef,chicken,meatballs,spaghetti,ham,pizzeles,wedding cake,cookies,fruit,nuts,all the booze you wanted and great company.An Italian band played, many danced and laughed and had a splendid time. Rat and Three had the time of their life and so did I. Many relatives and friends say hello to Ashtabula people. They relocated in the Anaheim area many years ago. The Gianell, Fish,Prisco,Izzi, Filzenger families, among others were there. Many cousins I never met.God Bless them all.
Now we are headed for the Seattle area. Our trip has been fun.Don't know when we will make it back home. We are having such a good time. Rat and Three are asleep in Ole Betsy. Too much annisette last night.. Take care. Will report later! Locoweed

Stopped in Seattle ,Washington, the Emerald City, with a population of around 600,000. Ate hamburgers at the "Sport Restaurant". Best we ever had. Ratsnake ate 3 of them. Don't know how he did it and Threelegged ate so many french fries he had to take a bottle of Tums. Later we ate at the "Palace Kitchen". Had pickled tomatoes. Delicious. Rode the "Ride the Ducks". It is a World War 2 landing craft that took us all through the waterways of the Seattle area. What a fun time. Threelegged met a lady and she was all over him. Had to drag him away to old Betsey. Had a great time. Seattle people were wonderful. We will head east to see the Grand Canyon area! Read where the forum has people arguing over all kind of things. Don't miss that a bit. But Ashtabula area people are as good as the thousands we have met so far in our travels. Miss you and the postings. See you at the Grand Canyon.
