Colorado is a beautiful State. Three, Rat and I are in awe after seeing the Grand Canyon. Parents should bring their kids to see it. It drops up to 10,000 feet in places.
Had a flat tire. Old Betsy has seen better days. Threelegged looked funny changing that tire in the rain. He was soaking wet but we laid on a blanket on a rocky knoll, got some sun, and he dried off. Had hot dogs over a small fire we made. Lot of open space here with a lot of clean air. Enjoyed ourselves. The cousins have been pretty good, for a change.
Well we are going to North Dakota to see Lake Ashtabula. Heard there is a place called Ashtabula Township next to the Lake. Should be fun talking to the people there about our Ashtabula. We're off to see the world, the wonderful world of Oz! Later, amigos!

Ashtabula Township,Barnes County, North Dakota, pop.100, is on the east side of Lake Ashtabula. Lake Ashtabula is a long snake-like narrow lake stretching north to south about 40 miles in Eastern North Dakota, average depth, 12 feet.
Talked to some people there. A few said they heard there was another Township in Ohio with the same name. Very interesting people. Most said they spend a lot of time fishing and swimming in Lake Ashtabula. The lake is a popular vacaction spot. The said their Lake Ashtabula is an Indian name meaning "fish river". Wonder if the same tribes lived there and in our area giving ,us the same name. Any way Rat and Three stuck their feet in the water and we drove around a little by the lake seeing the sights. North Dakota is pretty with few people but the ones we met were very friendly. After filling out bellies in a Japanese restaurant we were on our way east. Don't know where we will stop but we would like to see the Maine-Vermont area. Our trip has been fun but the gas prices are killing us.We paid $3.75 a gal. near the Lake before we left. May have to cut our trip short, And old Betsy seems to be on its final last leg. Buckeye, We said hello to Dorothy and the Tin Man. They just came from Kansas!
Said to say "hi" to you, their ole buddy!
Later, all! Were off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz!

Had to buy 2 tires in Portland, Maine. A lot of Canadian influence in this state surrounded on three sides by Canada. Threelegged loves the Maine gals and I must say they are beauties. Ate at a seafood place. Was it ever good. Fresh cod deep fried with hard bread and a large salad. Ratsnake loves the coast line but we have to start heading south and back to Ashtabula. Our money is running short. Hope we can make it and old Old Betsey can get us home. We are tired and miss Ashtabula. We have travelled about 7,000 miles and saw a lot of the good old U.S. God Bless America we sing as we head for Interstate 90 that will take us home. See you soon!

Stopped at the casino at Niagara Falls. Threelegged hit big on the machines. Now we're in good shape ,financially. Took the bus ride throughout the Falls area and saw all the sights. Sailed on the "Maid of the Mist". Got a little wet but so what? Talked to many people who came from all over to see the Falls. Ratsnake was looking for a barrel but we talked him out of it. Will use the money won to buy another car when we get home. Don't have far to go. About 3 hours away. We are on 90 now headed home with a few bucks in our pockets. Thanks for thinking of us. See you soon. May get back into action on the Forum. Seems a lot of things are going on. Good or bad. Take your pick...Take care...Locoweed...

Well, we made it back to Ashtabula. The temperature light and needs oil gauges are on . Old Betsey has had it. We are all tired out and need a long rest and recuperation. But it's nice to be back home after seeing the good old USA.
And thanks for playing along with me on my trip. One's imagination can provide a lot of fun, memories, and laughs. A mind is a wonderful thing. Years ago I really made trips all over the country but I don't think I would do it again. It was a lot of fun rehashing and making up travel stories. Hope you enjoyed the depths of my travel imaginations, It was fun.
Now I will rest my thoughts, read your postings, and maybe, get back on line, one of theses days. Thanks, again from Ratsnake, Threelegged and ole Locoweed. Use your imagination and dreams. They are wonderful to have... And may God bless all our veterans on this Memorial day....

Mr Sinclair... We did have lunch at that Bob Evans in Orange County, Remember we talked about Cecil Welton's gas station, Eastman's Store and the Feast of the Madonna. We couldn't forget that cause we had to buy your lunch. We got the bill, you went to the restroom, and never came back. How could we forget.. Take care, Buddy, we will meet again.

Well, we bought a new car with the winnings from the casino. We have read some of the posts since we came back and think we may hit the road again. Too much friction around here with the schools and bickering, etc. If we take off again anyone want to come with us. Anyone else need to get away from this rat race? We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz. This time we may find him and Dorothy and Toto.(Young Bula Guy, we really did take a trip. Don't pay attentiom to what I may say, my friend)! That's why they call me LOCOweed!

I thought it was a real trip too Big Grin I did enjoy reading about loco's adventures. I hope he goes on another one and shares his "adventures" with us. Hey Loco, have you ever been on a cruise ship? Or climb a mountain? Didn't they make a movie of you and your singing family--the VonLoco Family Singers? The one where you, your wife, and your children escape the Germans by traveling over the Alps. Maybe you could share your adventures. I know you've been working on your memoirs. I'm sure with all that you have done in your lifetime, it will be a best seller!! Big Grin LOL!!

Keep us posted on your next adventure. We love it!!

Threelegged isn't coming on this trip. Last Ratsnake and I saw of him he was chashing a blonde on the breakwall at Walnut Beach. We will catch up with him later on. Rat packed up the car and we are off again after giving our good-byes to many friends. Most cried when they found out we were leaving Bula again.(some were glad). But that's life. We don't know for sure where we are going this time but we made a lot of friends on our last trip. We loved Texas and California so we are headed West. Hope to see Dave Dopp and talk to him for awhile in Texas. And Mr. Sinclair E-mailed us and said HE would buy lunch this time and not hide in the restroom when it was time to pay the bill. Since we hit big at the Erie casino money is no problem this time around. We have a good car, companionship, and a full tank of gas as we head west. Take care, and if you see Threelegged and that blonde keep him out of trouble, if that is possible.. We're on the road again, on the road again,on the road again!. Later, friends. Stay tuned for our first check-in...
