Ashtabula Township,Barnes County, North Dakota, pop.100, is on the east side of Lake Ashtabula. Lake Ashtabula is a long snake-like narrow lake stretching north to south about 40 miles in Eastern North Dakota, average depth, 12 feet. Talked to some people there. A few said they heard there was another Township in Ohio with the same name. Very interesting people. Most said they spend a lot of time fishing and swimming in Lake Ashtabula. The lake is a popular vacaction spot. The said their Lake Ashtabula is an Indian name meaning "fish river". Wonder if the same tribes lived there and in our area giving ,us the same name. Any way Rat and Three stuck their feet in the water and we drove around a little by the lake seeing the sights. North Dakota is pretty with few people but the ones we met were very friendly. After filling out bellies in a Japanese restaurant we were on our way east. Don't know where we will stop but we would like to see the Maine-Vermont area. Our trip has been fun but the gas prices are killing us.We paid $3.75 a gal. near the Lake before we left. May have to cut our trip short, And old Betsy seems to be on its final last leg. Buckeye, We said hello to Dorothy and the Tin Man. They just came from Kansas! Said to say "hi" to you, their ole buddy! Later, all! Were off to see the wizard, the wonderful wizard of Oz!

Well, we made it back to Ashtabula. The temperature light and needs oil gauges are on . Old Betsey has had it. We are all tired out and need a long rest and recuperation. But it's nice to be back home after seeing the good old USA. And thanks for playing along with me on my trip. One's imagination can provide a lot of fun, memories, and laughs. A mind is a wonderful thing. Years ago I really made trips all over the country but I don't think I would do it again. It was a lot of fun rehashing and making up travel stories. Hope you enjoyed the depths of my travel imaginations, It was fun. Now I will rest my thoughts, read your postings, and maybe, get back on line, one of theses days. Thanks, again from Ratsnake, Threelegged and ole Locoweed. Use your imagination and dreams. They are wonderful to have... And may God bless all our veterans on this Memorial day....

I thought it was a real trip too I did enjoy reading about loco's adventures. I hope he goes on another one and shares his "adventures" with us. Hey Loco, have you ever been on a cruise ship? Or climb a mountain? Didn't they make a movie of you and your singing family--the VonLoco Family Singers? The one where you, your wife, and your children escape the Germans by traveling over the Alps. Maybe you could share your adventures. I know you've been working on your memoirs. I'm sure with all that you have done in your lifetime, it will be a best seller!! LOL!! Keep us posted on your next adventure. We love it!!
