I wanted to create this thread to find out at what threshold it will take before people can justify using violence in order to survive? The first premise I want you to grant me is invading armies. If you might be killed anyway is violence justified then, or am I just supposed let things happen.

No comment, but I can guarantee that whoever the 'intruder' is, they will not appreciate looking down the 'business end' of a large caliber firearm whose owner KNOWS how to use it. Wink

I'd only use it if the circumstances were extreme and there existed no other alternative. I don't believe in any protesters who claim they are justified when they turn violent - at no time should violence be used against unarmed people to prove a point. I call them extremeists who utilize violence for the wrong reason.

I'm sure I'm going to step into something here, but I'll respond anyway.

If there is a threat to me or mine I will respond with appropriate force. Appropriate being in my eyes - fists for fists, but a weapon is a weapon, and I suggest that you don't bring a knife or bat to my gun fight!

Dave,

I can't imagine anyone ever looking down the barrel of my gun Confused From surrender to first shot with an open holster I'm getting close to .8 second, and from hand on gun in conceal to first shot I am at .5 second.

M58, that's good!

Remember...21 feet can be crossed in 1.5 seconds. So assessing the threat in minimum time frames is essential to surviving a violent encounter.

First, the only time my weapon is out of the holster is to shoot.

Second, I never shoot to kill. I shoot to survive a life threatening situation, and I don't stop shooting until the threat is over.

Third, I do everything in my power to avoid #1.

My ruger .44 would not be something I'd want to ever be on the receiving end of...cause odds are if someone is looking at it...they better not even blink.
